John Peter Barthell

Classical Guitar #142

SOLD

This is a beautiful guitar - entirely French Polished - well appointed in every regard

Model Barthell Original Model #142
Condition Brand New - Showroom Condition
Scale 652 mm. - very easy to get your hands into this fingerboard
Nut 52mm wide
String Spacing 43mm
Bridge Spacing 58mm
Strings D'Addario EJ46 - high tension - in some instances, I'm preferring a harder tension, especially with lower action guitars, such as this one.
Top Master Grade Engelmann Spruce - a favorite amongst luthiers and players.  Time to open up and mature, this guitar is already singing...maturity is simply scary
Sides/Back East Indian Rosewood - Please note that the Sides are one piece...there is no joint on the bottom bout!
Head Plate Ebony
Bridge Ebony
Neck 3piece Spanish Cedar with ebony insert and Maple Veneers....Very stable
Fingerboard Ebony
Smaller Bout Width 90mm
Larger Bout Width 100mm
Smaller Bout Breadth 11"
Larger Bout Breadth 14.5"
Polish Front - French Polished
Polish Back and Sides - French Polished
Tuners High End Schaller machines gold plated with Deep Tone buttons
Bindings Brazilian Rosewood
Neck speed Fast
Playability Incredibly easy
Intonation Perfect - with 0.050 compensation this is an easily tuned instrument
Sound The full palate is available to you in this instrument.  She rings, bellows deeply with crispness of attack across the entire spectrum, while maintaining beautiful separation of voice with exceptional clarity.
Projection The projection on this instrument is outstanding!
Class of guitar Master Concert instrument
Case TKL Hard Shell
Comments Workmanship is superb, woods are attractive, the guitar is quite loud, projects magnificently,  ringing and resonant, holding a sweet voice (getting sweeter), maintaining excellent separation and clarity of voice, while the basses are giving much boom boom.  The neck is very accommodating, allowing those tight 2,3,4 finger inserts, while maintaining low action, no buzzes, with superb sound.  There is everything to love about this guitar.  This is another in a series of elegant and masterful instruments from a gentleman luthier to a master player.  An appraisal of this instrument values it at a minimum of $5495
Sound Files Double from Violin Partita I by Bach - This is the double following the Tempo di Borea. Sound is recorded straight thru with no filters of any kind except to add slight reverb to relieve any dryness.

For those interested, the transcription is from my Book of Bach Violin Sonatas and Partitas BWV 1001-1006

Pete Barthell offers a minimum 6 month warranty for a new instrument not including Finish.   Regardless, it has been taken care of by me, stored 100% of the time in its case within my studio which is environmentally controlled.  Everything about the guitar is solid and stable.  This does not mean that it will not need regular maintenance, just as any other concert guitar would need.

Please note there is an additional 5% restocking fee as discussed on the guitar page if it is returned for whatever reason.

Please inquire using email or phone (Contact Me) ....or come over and give it a whirl.
