Pre-owned - Played Condition
- one thin 9" crack on back, stabilized and refinished, poorly
done. I have made the choice to completely refinish the top fixing
all the issues detailed below.
Numerous
nail marks - a few rasqueado marks and other numerous nail marks along the top. The entire guitar had
the French Polish refreshed, where most everything on the back is smooth. The
Honduran is actually in excellent condition. The Top does have
significant nail marking. This is where the work lies in the
guitar. Does it need to be done? No. But, she is such
a gorgeous sounding, pretty girl, these marks simply detract from her.
Now, the guitar itself, much
like the 1989 Southwell Modern, is
amazing, which is the only reason I would deign to repair the slight nail
damage to the woods and finish. She has another in a supremely sublime voice,
very clear, excellent separation, with a buttery feel and a creamy sound
that is nothing less than extraordinary. The truth is, she doesn't
need to be worked on. As I've always said, the microphone can't
see how the guitar looks. She is a guitar that you would want to
record with, no matter the music. The photographs blow up pretty
big, so you can see the nail marks, etc for yourself.
The unique raised fingerboard
and neck is amazing. Using a large "clock" key, you can easily
adjust the neck up and down to achieve perfect action. You can do
this in seconds with tons of leverage at your disposal. You have
to see it to believe it. She will move enough to raise or lower
pitch by half a step! I was able to fine tune the action on the
spot. Verrrryyyy cool. She is very easy to play, almost too
easy. Her sound is exquisite, clear, bell-like, with crunch in the
mids, refined basses and beautiful blending of voice. This is
another recording guitar.
The guitar is in the process
of refreshing and slight restoration, where I am just about done as of
June 2011 Fausto Casiraghi
completed
her restoration and I have strung her up with Savarez Corum Cristals as of
August 21, 2011 - the guitar looks and sounds incredible. Fausto
did a great job on the guitar. |
