1993 NICHOLAS IOANNOU

Classical Guitar

SOLD

Nicholas Ioannou has a 3 year waiting list.  His recent models sell for well over $10,000

An exceptional instrument by an exceptional builder of classical guitars

Model Ioannou 1993
Scale 650 mm.
Top European Spruce
Sides/Back Brazilian Rosewood
Head Plate Brazilian Rosewood
Bridge Brazilian Rosewood
Neck Mahogany
Fingerboard Ebony
Scale length in inches 25 5/8" Nut to saddle
Nut Width 2"
Large Bout width 14"
Small Bout width 11"
Depth of body 4 1/8"
Total Length 39"
Polish Front - French Polished
Polish Back and Sides - French Polished - the slightest bit of checking is apparent.  This is expected given its maturity and play time.
Playability This is a professional's instrument that plays quite easily.  It is not too high, but there may be room to lower it.  Just as the 1987 Ioannou, I wouldn't.  The setup, which is well nigh perfect, is designed to maximize the soundboard's power and projection.  It certainly does not disappoint!
Intonation Perfect.
Sound Warm, lyrical, singing trebles, booming basses, clarity of voice is immediately apparent
Projection Extremely powerful
Class of guitar Master Concert instrument
Comments

This exceptional classical guitar, built by Nicholas Ioannou hailing from upstate New York , feels intimate once in your hands but is explosive in nature from its clarity of voice to its warmth, sweetness and finally its extraordinary volume. Built from the finest materials, Nicholas leaves nothing to be desired when it comes to his meticulous construction. Ioannou's are played by concert guitarists all over the European continent rarely coming up for sale. I am fortunate to have 2 of his instruments for sale. The asking price for this guitar is well below the European market price, where his instruments easily sell for the equivalent of $10,000 or more.

The guitar is close to perfect given its young 16 years of age.  Regarding a Master Grade Spruce Top...this is exactly what you want regarding aging, mellowing and pure balance of sound.  This guitar has all of that and more.  An Ioannou classical guitar is a prize to be cherished.

Sound Files Prelude #10 - A Father Remembers - this was recorded on August 21, 2008.  Sound is straight thru with no noise reduction, no filters, nothing, except reverb is added to relieve any dryness.  For those interested in the piece, I wrote this in dedication to my father.  It is about a nightmare I had where I lost my children.  Sub-titled Un Padre si Ricorda

Valerie's Air - dedicated to and written for my wife...guess her name?  :-)  Same as above, no noise reduction...etc...

Please inquire using email or phone (Contact Us) ....or come over and give it a whirl.

Nicholas Ioannou is happy to service the instrument for you.  He is a delightful man as well as a talented luthier.  The guitar proves it.
