This is
a new Hill Performance Lattice model in a Torres 1856 Parlor body size.
Features Kenny's Double Top with Hill lattice bracing for amazing sound,
power and projection. No joke either.
It's designed for the player needing a smaller bodied instrument with
closer frets for an easier left hand reach.
Here's a smaller guitar with a large sound: double top, sound ports
and lattice bracing! Indian rosewood back and sides with handsome
ebony button Gotoh tuners. A phenomenal and special guitar for the
right player.
To contrast the Performance with the Signature, the most significant
difference is the Signature's elevated fingerboard, while the
Performance has a traditional fingerboard.
The Signature has laminated cypress
layered within the Solid East Indian Rosewood, while the Performance is
solid wood sides without the laminate; the Signature has V joint for the head, the
performance has a traditional scarf joint; the tuners on the Performance
are Gotoh, rather than the Sloane tuners on the Signature.
The Performance has a simpler binding and purfling scheme with
contrasting mahogany bindings which set off the outline of the
instrument in a striking and beautiful way.
The guitars feature a marker dot at the seventh fret. The
Performance also has a 20th fret extension standard.

My own thoughts on this guitar....yeah baby! She's a growling
little monster with a big voice. The Spruce has a clear voice,
gorgeous separation. The G string has a great attack,
with a nice full round sound to the entire guitar. The Double Top evidences a wildness, untamed resonance and vibrancy, while lending
itself to the singing trebles that we all look for in a great concert
guitar. Amazingly, this guitar has a lot of balls, to put it
inelegantly. hehehe....'tis true though. You're thinking, no way,
smaller guitar, smaller voice. WRONG. She'll blow away most
anything you're playing now, and I don't care much what you're playing.
Easy to play, perfect for the smaller player for sure, she comes off
like a real parlor guitar, easy to pick up, and she loves to make music.
If this is the type of guitar you're looking for, don't hesitate...she's awesome. You'll love her.
Recording with her this morning, I had a blast. So much fun, so
easy to play, resonating throughout the studio, I put her down after my
warm up session, saying, " sweet...sweet sweet" with a big smile on my
face. Man oh man, this is a great baby of a guitar. |
