To contrast the Performance with the Signature, the most significant
difference is the Signature's elevated fingerboard, while the
Performance has a traditional fingerboard.
The Signature has laminated cypress sides, while the Performance is
solid wood sides; the Signature has V joint for the head, the
performance has a traditional scarf joint; the tuners on the Performance
are Gotoh, rather than the Sloane tuners on the Signature.
The Performance has a simpler binding and purfling scheme with
contrasting mahogany bindings which set off the outline of the
instrument in a striking and beautiful way.
Both guitars feature a marker dot at the seventh fret. The
Performance has a 20th fret extension standard.
So...I'm recording one of these guitars this morning, the Spruce, New Year's Day, and my
wife shows up at around 8AM..very early for her when she's off. I
look at her and ask what the heck she's doing up so early. She
says it's my fault...she could hear the guitar all the way upstairs with
the door closed. My studio is on the other side of the house,
downstairs, far removed from my master bedroom. I couldn't help
it, I started laughing, which didn't go over too well with the wife.
The guitar is monstrously powerful is all I have to say.
Well, a little more. She's very easy to play, quite expressive,
full color palette is available, kind of light actually now that I think
of it and well...she's pretty too. Put it to you this way, think
of a Hill Signature without the bells and whistles and you have a Hill
Performance. This is a great guitar! Reviewed by Acoustic Guitar Magazine...click
