From the owner:  Very structurally sound having been repaired by Beverly Maher's repair person in NYC.  There is a repaired crack in the back, you can see some discoloration where the repairman failed to match the original varnish when doing the repair.  This was done in Rochester, NY in 1979, but was verified as solid in NY two years ago.

There was also some separation of the center of the top and two parallel cracks, one above and one below the bridge, both repaired in the late 70's but addressed in NY.

The neck was also checked and reset in NY and there is a very small crack in the top that was repaired at that time.

There are a few small marks in the lacquer on the top and one larger ding on the lower bout on the left (facing the guitar.)

The upside is it has Brazilian rosewood back and sides, very tight grained, a German spruce top, original tuners, mahogany neck and only the tiniest bit of wear in the fingerboard at the first fret.  It is an extremely light guitar.  When you lift it, it's the sensation you get lifting a violin, that something this size should weigh more. And it sounds great and, of course, it is a 1956 Velaquez, a rare vintage guitar.

From me:  Being familiar with this class of guitar and having played 50's vintage Velazquez and other fine makers of this genre, you are immediately impressed with the sound and resonance of these extremely light instruments.  The basses are absolutely killer...low, vibratory, almost menacing, while the trebles have the voices of angels.  Very few makers of today's age understand the principles behind these light, musically powerful, violin-ish type instruments.

This instrument is on consignment to me, where all reasonable and serious offers will be presented to the owner.  I will facilitate communications, payment and delivery (personally if need be).
