She's a 160-180 years old and in remarkably good
condition. First, her issues. There are a few chips and
bumps, dings and scratches all around her, bindings, top, headstock,
back and sides. She's like a million years old, for chrissakes!!
:-) I've had her evaluated and checked over thoroughly. She
is in very good condition, very solid, no structural issues whatsoever.
In truth, these are very simple instruments, yet making a powerful
statement in its simplicity. Smallish like a viola, 6 old style
friction pegs that work surprisingly well, they are actually quite easy
to work on if you know what you're doing. A full inspection showed
beautiful interior integrity. Body integrity, again, being so old,
has been bumped and dinged, but there is no compromise to her structure,
stability and certainly not to her playability and sound. I'm
loving this baby.
Her sound? Seriously, this is a deep
sounding bellowing monster of a little guitar. Incredibly
surprising. Clear, resonant, perfectly suited for the music of her
genre. I'm going to enjoy recording her.
Playability is unsurprisingly easy. Very
simple to evoke the music from this baby. I'll record her tonight
and have much fun doing so. She's gorgeous in every way.
Side notes: As I play her more and more,
she's deepening in sound, a very old, almost ancient sound coming out of
her. This is an incredibly unique instrument, one I wouldn't mind
holding onto, she's that special. I'm hoping to find more of these
instruments in the near future. |

Opus 60 - Number 18 in A Major by Carcassi
- roughly done (sorry). the
guitar is somewhat smaller. In truth, I need more time to
acclimate to her, though she is quite easy to play. My fingers
don't really fit LOL. Her sound is amazing though.
Very authentic, a bit lute-like, baroque guitar, classical guitar all
wrapped in one neat package. She's beautiful.
Johann Anton Logy - First 4 Movements from A Minor
Suite
- (4:19) No edits, just a touch of
reverb - 100% dry layered with 30% reverb. I like the
delicate nature of this music, where the guitar really
responded well.
Johann Anton Logy - Gigue from A Minor
Suite
- final movement from the Suite
I'm contemplating publishing a TAB
Version of this music, I like it that much. I'll
probably start this for the New Year. |
