So, Woodley lives in Hawaii, after living in Portland Oregon for so many
years. Lucky boy! :-) I read some of his stuff and it
seems clear he's a spiritual guy, who loves the earth, and the wood.
When it comes to music and instruments that make music, this is always a
good thing, and it seems clear that WW takes his profession seriously.
I mean seriously. LOL This guitar is gorgeous. The
rosette is one of a kind beautiful. The Spruce is so tight as to
seem to not have grain. I read that he goes to the Italian Alps to
get his wood from the same source as the violin and cello makers of
Cremona. Clearly, he understands that the woods are of the utmost
importance. WW doesn't disappoint. Everything, including the
Indian Rosewood is incredibly straight, nice and ruddy looking, with the
entire guitar tapping beautifully. This is a no-brainer as far as
I'm concerned. You must own this guitar. It has a resonance
that belies the fact that it is a guitar. It reminds me of a bowed
instrument when I hear it, with a very clear separation of voice, even
balance across her spectrum and bells in the top. Awesome. I
just recorded with her....amazing. What a honey bunny of a guitar!
Additionally, she is in excellent condition. She was well cared
for, where I can find nothing to report. I would say, 'as new',
but she is 2 years old and she has traveled with her owner. No
worries...she's a nice nice guitar.
Recording her, I'll be honest....I kicked the crap
out of this guitar, meaning I beat her up, played her and asked her for
even more. You can hear it in the recording of The Morning Song
below. Fast, dirty, pushing as hard as I wanted. To her
credit, she took it smiling back at me, come on sweetie, give me
more...I like it hehehehe...the guitar is flat out awesome. |
