New and Noteworthy:
A blog of sorts:
Archive of Past Events
02-01-2012 - Still sick and my voice is
still broken. I sound like Don Corleone for chrissakes.
hehehehe. I photographed an additional 15 guitars,
some new, most older bad photos that needed to be replaced.
The new camera equipment is awesome but tricky to use.
Still getting used to it. The
1964 Manuel
Velazquez is up to date with info and photos. The
other photos will be processed and uploaded tomorrow.
01-30-2012 - Still sick, voice still
broken. Christe! Worked on WTC 1B this early
morning, formatting all the pages, pagination, fonts, sizing,
simple editing. The first 4 pieces are fully complete, as
are a few others. I'm digging into Prelude & Fugue #12 at
the moment. I've determined that I don't like this work
anymore :-) My brain starts to fry after 1/2 hour,
take a break, clear the head and go at it again. These 2
books and their TAB accompaniment might break me for a while,
much like the Sinfonia work did to me a few years ago.
Great work, but rancid on my spirits.
- Kenny Hill sent
me a few
cutaway Players, 650mm with a 48mm nut. Nice guitars,
easy to play.
- A
Manuel Velazquez is in
the studio from 1964 - christ, what a voice on this guitar!
Pure and angelic
- A
Randy Angella Blanca
Flamenco is in - light and resonant, seriously nice work by
the American master
01-28-2012 - New guitars are en route,
including a 1964 Manuel Velazquez - Randy Angella Flamenco -
Kenny Hill Torres Sized 630 Performance - a few more as
well. Still sick, voice is broken, wonderful! How
about not LOL
01-27-2012 - After 9 days of illness, I am
only slightly improving. But, the work must continue,
through the coughing and such. I am starting to record,
having put up a sound file for the
new Ashley Sanders
Cedar EIRW DEC 2011 that came in last week.
01-25-2012 - Only slightly better, still
feverish and coughing. I cleaned up the workshop today, it
needed it bad. That broke my stamina, where I'm sitting in
the studio working on website stuff. I cleaned up the
guitar page and the news page, removing all the sold guitars.
Should make it easier to navigate a bit. Worked on
WTC 1B this morning. Slowly pecking away at this monstrous
amount of work.
01-23-2012 - Apparently very ill, I'm
going to the doctor. I will return calls or emails when I
get back.
01-21-2012 - It's snowing? You gotta
be kidding me. Heck, what do I care...I got works to
do.... Guitars with photos, data, and measurements uploaded so far are:
1999 Paulino Bernabe Concierto -
Luis Fernandez de Cordoba #18 -
Luis Fernandez de Cordoba #19 -
Ashley Sanders #51 Dec. 2011 -
1970 Lorenzo Pimentel Cedar/Brazilian -
Kenny Hill Torres FE-18 -
Kenny Hill Signature Cedar #3239 -
1976 Manouk Papazian -
Rich DiCarlo #107 -
Rich DiCarlo #111 -
Kenny Hill Performance 650 Spruce #3223 -
Manouk Papazian 1974 -
Kenny Hill Performance 630 Torres Sized #3167 -
Whisler 2009 Cedar & Brazilian - and finally,
Whisler 2010 Cedar & EIRW. Really really. That
took almost 5 friggin' days? Well, it didn't help that I
am sick like a dog since I started the project. Signing
off, I'm going to the doctor.
01-20-2012 - Updates are starting to be
uploaded to the server, regarding photos, guitar pages, and
other essentials. I've been working for 3 days, maybe 4 to
get this started. I'm a bit relieved, but there's still a
ton of work to do today and tomorrow to get everything up to
speed.
- The
Losy Partita in A Minor with TAB Notation has been compiled
and is ready to go. Nice book. :-)
01-19-2012 - The site is a bit messed up
on some of the guitar pages, as there was (is) a lot of work
getting everything synched up, photos uploaded, pages built.
Have patience as it's working, and so am I. LOL
01-17-2012 - Heavy work load in the
background. First and foremost was getting a
new ad campaign ready for print/copy.
That's done. It will translate well to all other full page
advertisements going forward. It is awesome, believe me.
Simple, direct, powerful to the point.
-
Fifteen new guitars were
photographed. Photos were shot RAW, need background
processing and re-sizing to fit the web site specs.
- Pages were or
are being built for all the guitars.
Trust me, this is a lot of work, a lot of measuring, and careful
careful.
- Early this
morning, at around 4AM, I finished the
Losy Partita in A Minor with TAB Notation. This came
out brilliantly, if I say so myself. It is worthy of a
color printing, but alas, it is too expensive and would make the
books too expensive. But, they're still awesome. I
have to compile the book, because of photography additions, but
in essence, she is ready to go. I will update the page
when complete.
01-14-2012 - Busy, as it seems is usual of
late. A Paulino Bernabe Concierto from 1999 with Cedar &
Brazilian came into the studio. In excellent condition,
with just a few nail marks in the finish underneath the
rosette.. What a powerful beast of a Cedar guitar!
- Books
continue to work. I've not been sleeping well of late,
waking up at 3AM and staying up for the remainder of the day.
Much on the mind and the body shows it, I suppose.
- A new
Hill Torres
630mm is in the studio, with Flamed Maple and Spruce.
Pretty baby with a great authentic sound.
01-12-2012 - The
Losy Partita in A Minor
is complete, compiled and ready to print. Orders for the
book will go out tomorrow. The TAB version will hopefully
be complete by the weekend or Monday morning.
- Ashley Sanders
is here, a Cedar and East Indian Rosewood monster! I will
update by early next week. The delays are in the photo
equipment, which I'm still waiting on. Believe me, I'm
chompin' at the bit as it were, having over 12 instruments here
that need photography and updates.
- Struck a deal
with Luis
Fernandez de Cordoba today, being his exclusive East Coast
dealer. Luis is an exciting new luthier from Alaska, with
professional training and excellent instincts. The 2
instruments I have here from him are not too expensive yet
affording a burgeoning artist a concert tone and sound at a more
than accessible price.
01-11-2012 - Keeping busy, while using
early mornings aka 4AM to do engraving work. The
Losy Partita is now being
edited and marked. 2 snapshots from the Partita are
now available in its own dedicated page. I am working on
the TAB version simultaneously.
Truth is, I may just combine the 2 versions into one book, since
it is rather short. The standard notation version came in
at 5 pages, giving the TAB version 10 pages of music, plus
notes, photos, etc.
- I have meetings
throughout the day into the early evening. Be patient on
the phone, leave a message and I'll get back to you.
01-10-2012 - Finished the engraving of the
Losy Partita. I have a bit of a busy schedule this week,
with some new developments in their beginning stages. I
will write again as they become a reality, but it will be a very
good thing for the Arts on Long Island in general.
01-09-2012 - Crazy busy today.
Unpacked guitars, phone, printing, packing, emails, more phone,
appointments with luthiers, you name it, I did it. No
creative work today...sorry. Oh, check this out....I
ordered a pro camera last Thursday, got a good price on it,
getting no confirmation from what I now know to be a schlock
operation. I call today, where's my confirmation?
Apparently, the better question was, "where's my camera".
Oh, that will be delayed by 4 weeks. ? ??
??? Seriously? Cancel my order and, by the way, kiss
my ass. I ordered from a better operation, with immediate
responses, emails, confirmations and it will be here tomorrow.
Nice...
01-07-2012 - I'm just about done with the
raw engraving for the Losy Partita in A
Minor. The page justifications, marking, editing,
fingering, etc to get it ready for publication. TAB
version to follow.
- New
professional photography equipment has
been ordered in total. Body, lenses, battery packs,
lighting, etc. Send more money!! Yowie!!!
hehehe...Early last year, I said the photography on the site was
pissing me off, and now, I'm going to kick its ass. LOL
- I'm also working
on tying in a new Blog to the site,
which will probably replace this New and Noteworthy (as if).
Don't get me wrong, what I post here might be new, but that
don't make it noteworthy....hehehehehe
01-06-2012 - New guitars are in from
Kenny Hill, which need to
photographed and updated. A Signature Cedar and a
Performance
630 Spruce.
- I started the
work on Johann Anton Losy, as well as continuing the work on the
Well Tempered 1B Preludes & Fugues 9-16.
- Updating a page
for the Losy publication, I noticed that all my book jpegs were
sitting on broken links? Apparently I moved a directory
and poof they were gone. I'm in the process of fixing them
and testing. Looks all good as of 11AM.
01-05-2012 -
Ashley Sanders is en
route! New Hill Guitars
- Signatures and Performance 630 Torres Size - new
Gil Carnal Classical Guitar
- possibly a 1999 Bernabe with Brazilian
in Mint Condition - few others in the pipeline. I'll post
as updates become available.
- Import permits
are applied for as well as contacts with Freight
Forwarders/Import Broker, Lacey Act Compliance and Registration,
and all other necessities to facilitate the importation of
various guitars from around the world by some of the best
luthiers in the world. Very exciting. :-)
- A new ad
campaign is being initiated this month, with entries being given
to SoundBoard - the Long Island Classical Guitar Festival run by
Harris Becker - the Mannes School and a few others.
01-02-2012 - I kinda took the day off, but
not really. Spoke with Kenny Hill and Larry Darnell today,
ordering numerous new instruments. Recorded a few guitars
including the
Tony
Johnson...sweet guitar. Inventory issues will take
center stage this week, as well as new publishing work.
I'm going to kick start the process with the Johann Anton Logy
Suite in A Minor, making a TAB version available. I'm then
going to jump into the finishing of the
Bach Well Tempered Books IB and IC,
finishing off the 24 Preludes and Fugues from the WTC Book 1, in
standard notation editions and then a TAB notation edition.
It's high time I finished these books, which have been on my
table for 5 years or so. Ridiculous, but also indicative
of my time being eaten up by growing into one of the largest and
finest classical guitar shops in the country. Sweeeeeet
:-) Anyway, off to work I go....talk soon. Oh yeah,
the Sale is over tonight. Silly silly...you should have
bought something while you could. Prices are going back to
normal levels tomorrow morning. Sorry....
01-01-2012 - Seriously? Happy New
Year? 2012...<shaking my head in disbelief>...time flies
when you enjoy your work so much, I suppose? 2 guitars
sold to start off the New Year. Loving it.
- While I was at
it, last night, I started a recording of the
complete Logy Suite in A
Minor using the best instrument in the house for this music, the
Petit Jean 1830. Still having difficulty playing as
well as I would like, my joints are improving, allowing me to
play for longer than possible in the last 2 years. Slow
improvements, while I work on overall conditioning, once again.
:-) Enjoy the music.
12-31-2011 - Uploaded a recording of the
1992
Dieter Hopf Super Classic - music by
Johann Anton Logy, Suite in A Minor. I like this
music enough to publish it and offer a TAB version, which I will
begin working on in the next few days, along with 2 more Bach
editions in TAB.
- A new MP3 was
uploaded for the
2008 Ramirez 4NCWE - more Logy from the Suite in A Minor,
the Sarabande and Gavotte.
- Uploaded a new
MP3 for the Petit Jean
1830 - more Logy, the final Gigue from the Suite in A Minor.
12-30-2011 - Updates and business issues
have been keeping me busy. Updated the
Consignment
Agreement. New guitars are en route from the likes of
Ashley Sanders, Kenny Hill, Gil Carnal and a few others.
12-24-2011 - Almost Merry Xmas! I
love this time of year. Hope you all have a great holiday.
- I spent the
time, being woken up early, something like 4AM, which is even
early for me, I spent the time to update and clean up the
Samples Page, which man oh man,
really needed it. Much much better, easier to see and
navigate, in line with the theme of the entire site. I
also cleaned up the News Page (this page) a bit.
- I have to get to
photographing and recording some new things and update
accordingly.
- I'm open all day
today, so please, feel free to call me if I can help with
anything. 631-335-5447 ask for Rich
12-23-2011 - Great news as
Ashley Sanders Guitars of
Australia will be available thru Savage Classical Guitar.
I'm very pleased and excited to offer guitars from one of the
best of the Australian Builders here in the North American
Continent. The first of his guitars should be here by
mid-January of 2012.

recording the latest Ramirez and the Dieter Hopf. Spoke
with Ashley Sanders
yesterday. Nice guy. Hopefully something comes of
it. I'd like to see his guitars here.
12-20-2011 - At 7AM EST
my web server
imploded. I've been scrambling all day to recover,
including setting up new email, a new host for my domains, and
uploading the 2 Gig contents of the full web site. Holy
Crap is about all I can say. I'm still working on it as of
9PM and not even close to being done. Whooo, this is fun! Freakin' not!!!! Call me at any of the listed numbers or
emails if something is broken and you need clarification.
Believe me, I'm working it. Until next time. Rich
- OK then, as of
10:35PM, the site is fully recovered and I am once again in
Heaven! Sheesh....nice, okay, back to work tomorrow
morning. Please email me again if you tried during today's
date. I'm certain that I lost all emails between 7AM and
7PM, lost on a server that no longer exists. Thanks...talk
soon.
12-19-2011 - Recording is up for the

Hill
Performance 650 Spruce arrived. 2 new
Hill Signatures are en
route as well. Oh yeah, 3 new guitars from
Darren Hippner are on
the way next week. Holy G String Batman....and I think
more guitars are coming? I need a new facility and tout de
suite!!
12-05-2011 - Peghed
Tuning Machines are here.
These replace the common Friction Pegs found in numerous
flamenco guitars, as well as violins, violas, cellos, etc.
I have to photograph, illustrate usage, and build a page for
them. These babies are very cool and a godsend to someone
like myself with numerous flamenco guitars with friction pegs.
Updates as soon as this weekend.
12-04-2011 - New photos of the
1968 Felix
Manzanero and the
1976 Contreras 1A

del Pilar is recorded. Wow, this is a nice guitar.
I also recorded a
Kenny Hill Player 650 in Cedar. For $1595, I'm sorry,
but you can't go wrong here.
11-25-2011 - The
1997 Tony
Johnson and the 1870
Petit Jean are both recorded. That was fun!
11-24-2011 - Black Friday? I
guess that means Green Savage around here as in Green Light
Prices. All
guitars priced over $2000 are discounted a minimum of 5% or way
more. I want to move them. I'm motivated
to do so with all of the inventory coming to me in the next 2
months. This is a great opportunity to get a lesser
price on a fantastic concert instrument. Call me to
discuss. Contact info is all over my site. All
guitar prices are adjusted accordingly throughout the site.
Have fun!!!
11-23-2011 - A
Tony Johnson Classical
Guitar is in the studio. Also an
1870 Petit Jean 19th Century
Guitar. I will update accordingly as I have a photo
shoot tomorrow and then pages, measurements, recordings, etc.
Stay tuned.

Somehow, I missed recording the

the Del
Pilar Classical Guitar.
- Looks like

Signatures from Kenny Hill as well as the 630 Performance
models, a Jesus Bellido, a
Julius Gido, a gorgeous
Sergei DeJonge Brazilian,
Contreras, and more.
- I rebuilt
my other storage area in my studio to accommodate more guitars,
and now working on my workshop. Organization is key around
here!
- Updates to the
site will happen as I get the photos and sound files up and
running.
10-01-2011 - Lots of business issues,
supplies, customers, guitars out the door and some cool stuff
coming. A Jesus Bellido is
here, as well as a
Kenny Hill
Hauser with Brazilian Rosewood is on the way.
Apparently the best of the best that Kenny has every built, he
called me to find out if I would like to offer it to the playing
public and I said, "Hell yeah" :-)
9-26-2011 - I've been photographing
and updating the site for the last 2 days, including this
morning. Updates for
2 Hill Performance 630mm Torres in Spruce went up. A 1979
Marcelo Barbero Hijo and a
1979 Julius Gido
went up. I have a 1970s Manouk Papazian to newly list
(she's pretty). It keeps getting bigger and badder around
here....and that's a good thing :-)
9-20-2011 - 2 new
Kenny Hill
Performance 630mm TORRES Models in Spruce are coming on
Friday, September 23.
9-17-2011 - A Marcelo Barbero Negra
Flamenco is in as well as a Julius
Gido. Both have minor issues,
possibly needing restoration, only because I feel that way ( I
like for guitars to be in their best condition), but I'm going
to put them up as is for the time being. The Barbero is a
super guitar. The Gido is quite surprising, being powerful
and full of sound. I have to photograph and record them,
hopefully on Sunday. Inquiries are welcome.
9-16-2011 - A new
Kenny
Hill Signature Spruce baby is in the studio. 2
Hill Torres
Performance Spruce 630mm are en route as well.
9-14-2011 - Recorded the
Yamaha GC-3D -
Ramirez 4E Cedar

9-11-2011 - I have a few new guitars

Contreras 1A 1976 Cedar
and a Ramirez 4e with Fishman
Pickup. Photos are done, just putting together pages
for these 2 and a new
Francisco Navarro Rodriguez with Cocobolo.
Recordings are waiting to be processed and uploaded. My
apologies to any clients who have been waiting...the hurricane
seriously kicked my ass, putting me at least 2 weeks behind.
- I also have an
old and beautiful Yamaha GC-3D available. Moderate use and
wear, she is in otherwise excellent condition. Photographs
are done for her as well. Updates are being worked
on...gods I needs help.
9-09-2011 - Numerous business
issues, correspondence, and other things are eating up my time,
and quite frankly, driving me absolutely nutty. I just
want to sit down and do my work, record, photograph, update the
site, etc. I'm going to try and do some more
photography now.
-
Hippner #673 is
up and on the site. She has some smallish issues, where I
felt discounting her in a big way was the right thing to do.
Take a look, she's quite nice.
9-07-2011 - Sound files have gone up
for the William
King Flamenco #30 and
Barthell #138. A few more guitars came in today.
I'll be doing a battery of photography work for numerous
instruments as well as recordings tomorrow.
9-05-2011 - Summer is winding down
and that means back to serious work! LOL Within a
few weeks, I'll be finishing up a few books that were in the
pipeline. Recordings will be done today, as well as orders
from over the weekend. Rain makes for a good work day.
Updates to the site will follow regarding guitars available,
recordings, and whatever else I can accomplish today.
9-02-2011 - I've been busy
recovering from the hurricane. The studio is back together
and everything is put away. :-) A Contreras 1A 1976
Cedar & Rosewood is in, as well as a Ramirez 4E with Fishman
pickup. Other guitars are en route, including a Bellido, a
Guido and something else I can't remember LOL. I'll be
doing photography and updates thru the weekend with recordings
of a new Hippner and these other babies.
8-28-2011 - Living down on the
waters of Bay Shore, NY opposite Fire Island in the heart of the
Long Island area, the realities of hurricanes and other tropical
events coming up the Eastern Seaboard and hitting us directly is
a very real possibility as evidenced by Hurricane Irene.
As it was, she moved slightly West of my location, where the
city and Eastern Jersey, and Eastern Pennsylvania took more of
the brunt of the storm. My biggest concern was tidal surge
and rightly so. My backyard is completely flooded out.
For the first time ever, I've had water in my garage (not my
living space), which acts as my workshop. I had lifted
most every thing off the floors of my workshop and studio, so no
worries, there was minimal damage. But the back yard is
hosed. Fences blew down, sheeting came off the house,
facia, siding (not too bad), my lawns are destroyed, and the
debris from the water has kindly settled in my once lovely back
yard. :-) Cleanup is going to be a bitch.
For the first time ever, I will have to call my various
insurance companies and make claims.
Given Monday is a
recovery day, please forgive any delays in getting any orders
out for another day or two as I deal with NYS Sales Tax
Authority, Liberty Mutual and FEMA and the numerous phone calls
needed to start getting everything back in order. All
guitars are safe, all equipment is safe, all books and other
tools are all safe. Incredibly, power stayed on, thus
environmental controls were on the whole of the storm.
Most importantly my
family is safe as I evacuated them around 5PM Saturday afternoon
to a very good friend's home in Hauppauge. Doc and Linda
have my deep gratitude for their kindness and generosity.
Now....Business as usual starting Tuesday! Best and thanks
to everyone who was kind enough to ask about our well-being.
Rich

repairs, etc... A new
Darren Hippner Hauser

get a moment.
8-08-2011 - Spent a great evening
with Rene Izquierdo and Elina Chekan and two of their students.
Many guitars played and much music made. These are 2 of
the nicest people you could meet.
8-02-2011 - Updated photos for the
new Kenny
Hill Signature #3180 Cedar Monster.
8-01-2011 - Spent the day recovering
from the weekend, updating the site, photography, clean up of
some sheet music pages, formatting etc. Real exciting!
<shaking of the head ensues>
7-30-2011 - Spent a great evening
with Rene Izquierdo. Great player and great down to earth
guy. The concert at ZEB's in NYC was small, intimate and
powerful. He played solo as well as a number of absolutely
gorgeous duets with his beautiful wife Elina Chekan. They
are doing another show at the Y Boulton Center on August 5th,
2011 - this is highly recommended with guest performers Chris
Gotzen-Berg and Jonathan Bodian.
7-28-2011 - The new
Hill
Signature is here #3180 and she is a beauty
7-23-2011 - Guitars out and new guitars

Rene Izquierdo
and Elina Chekan - one at ZEB's in NYC and the other at the
Boulton Center in Bay Shore. See my

for further details and ticket info.
7-13-2011 - Spending time on business
affairs, reordering stock like
Petros Oils,
Strings, Polishing cloths, printing a lot of music and moving a
fair number of guitars out the last few days.
Enjoying the warm weather too! I love it warm baby.
7-10-2011 - This Sunday was an absolute
treat as I was visited by many friends, including Carole Boutry
of BAM Cases - Fausto Casiraghi luthier extraordinaire of Italy
and
Jorge Caballero who played and played and man did he play.
I have some small video of him from last night out on the deck
of my backyard that I will put up privately on my website.
Very informal, he was rehashing some pieces that he hasn't
played in a few years. He played through Bach's Chromatic
Fantasy & Fugue, Albeniz, Ponce, Pictures at an Exhibition
(really?) and a host of other pieces before I thought, "holy
crap, where's the gotdam camera?" LOL The man
has some serious chops and a musical memory that is absolutely
enviable. It was most cool to have these great people over
including 2 of my best friends Steve Schram and Rich Fernandez.
I'll put up the video(s) a bit later.
7-05-2011 - More

6-21-2011 - Spent the majority of the day
with
Chris Gotzen-Berg recording video and mp3s. Good time
all around. Videos and mp3s are being processed and
uploaded slowly. Not a good time! :-)
6-19-2011 - Sound files are uploaded for
Hill Performance Cedar 630mm Torres Parlor Guitar.
A new sound file
for my
Richard Mermer Regent Acoustic Guitar - this is an amazing
guitar....I'm sort of confused why someone hasn't bought her
just yet.
6-18-2011 - Sound files are starting to be
uploaded for various guitars listed below.
6-17-2011 - Numerous updates to the

Hill

and a few more. I'm bringing my
Gary Southwell Guitars
back on line after doing numerous restorative processes on them.
A new Navarro Rodriguez
is incoming to the studio. There's so much stuff going on,
it's getting difficult to keep up with it all. But it's
all good. Busy is always good. :-) I've
updated the guitars page and the
storefront pages.
6-14-2011 -
Hill Signature Cedar has
arrived and is gorgeous!
6-07-2011 - Sound file is up for the

in the world
- A recording
update to the new Pete
Barthell #161 - working on catching up with a few other
guitars, such as the
Dupont
- Sardin -
Hill Signatures and
Performance Guitars etc. So much to do with so little
time! :-)
6-05-2011 - A new Kenny Hill
Signature Cedar Double Top is en route. Taking care of
photography and recording today and tomorrow. Updates to
follow.

2004 Gerard Gilet Double Top Classical is in the studio.
Nice work by an Australian Master Luthier. Updates and
photos to follow shortly.
5-27-2011 -
Kenny Hill
Performance Guitars - Torres 630mm Scale are in the studio
and they are quite gorgeous. I'll photograph today.
I must get to recording of these and a few other guitars.
Other than that, supplies have been ordered, while other
business is being attended. Busy boy....have a great
Memorial Day Weekend.
5-21-2011 - Two New
Kenny Hill
Performance Guitars - Torres 630mm Scale are en route to the
studio, one in Cedar, the other in Spruce. They should be
here by Wednesday. I'll update the site and gallery at
that time.
5-17-2011 - New ventures are taking some time, but the
inventory continues to grow with a
Del
Pilar Jr Classical Guitar that is really pretty, as well as
2 new Hill Player
Series 628mm in Spruce. My work on the Southwell
Guitars progresses nicely, as well as a few other babies that
are being worked on.
Papazian
- Tieri - a gorgeous Navarro Rodriguez and a few others are in
progress to the point of perfection. I'll update more as I
know more and see the results of the hard work. Don't
forget the William
King Flamenco I just finished. She came out
beautifully.
5-11-2011 - A lot of work going on in the background.
A new (old) Manouk
Papazian from 1974 with Bolivian Rosewood is in the studio,
which will be undergoing slight restorative processes.
We're talking minor finish issues, but this means a complete
refinish. The 2 Gary
Southwell guitars are just about complete, where they will
be uploaded and photographed again. They are coming out
beautifully, looking just about brand new! The
1959
Manouk Papazian is sold. A new
Kenny Hill Signature Spruce with Lattice Bracing is en route
as of today. And so on....it's getting real :-)
5-03-2011 - Photos are being uploaded for all of the guitars
that I was a bit behind on shooting in the last 3 weeks.
Recordings are next today. See new shoots for the redone
William King
Flamenco -
Hill
Performance Spruce #3135 -
Hill Signature
#2929 - John Confalone -
Juan Orozco Flamenco
- the new Pete
Barthell #161 - the
Maurice Dupont Conservatory and a few
others.
5-02-2011 - A hectic week did not allow me to update the
site, take photos, or record many of the new guitars that came
in, including a new
Barthell which is beautiful, and many older beauties.
Over the next 3 days, today included, I'll be working on playing
ketchup, I mean catch up. hehe
4-23-2011 - Just got back in from a long overdue vacation in
Southern Florida. Nice time, nice weather, sunshine and
warm....sweet! Come back to NY and 50 degrees cold and
wet...yech! hehehehe.... All orders are accounted for and
will be processed thru Monday morning. Thank you for your
patience as I proceed to get these babies out to all of you.
4-12-2011 - Tax time is hitting me hard as usual. Like
I don't have enough to do! :-) New guitars are in
from John Confalone a builder from Long Island back in the 1970s
(very cool) - Maurice Dupont Conservatoire of France - and
a few others. Check the Guitar page.
I will upload and list these guitars in the next 2 weeks.
4-09-2011 - More time on business and repairs, while moving
out 2 beautiful Vintage Gibson
Guitars out to a most interesting man who is a collector
extraordinaire of some of the nicest guitars I've ever seen.
Really gorgeous.
4-06-2011 - Spent the day recording, cleaning up a bit, French
Polishing 2 repair jobs, playing with the cats, and ordering
stuff from Gotoh, Alessi, and other suppliers. Same for
tomorrow.
- An
Orozco Flamenco circa 1968 came
into the studio as well as a Tieri Steel
String Acoustic circa 1935. What a sound on both of
them, but the Raffaele Tieri is very special. I have to clean them
up, photo shoot and record them, getting them ready for upload
to the web site. Beautiful guitars.
4-05-2011 - I will be performing in an opera presented by the
Amadeus Opera House during this summer. We will be
performing Mozart's Il Re Pastore - known as the Shepherd King -
K.208 There will be 4 performances, the first being
Saturday, June 11th, 2011 at 7pm St. Paul’s Methodist
Church 270 Main Street, Northport, NY 11768. The
link above has information about continuing performances,
locations, email, phone and ticket information. I would
consider it a great favor if you would honor us with your
presence at these performances, helping to support the musical
community of Long Island. 50% of the proceeds will go to
the performers, thru the generosity and professional guidance of
John and Marianna Benedict, owners of the Amadeus Opera.
Please say that I referred you if you contact them about tickets
and information. Thank you...Rich
4-01-2011 - It's getting real around here. Wait 'til you see
who's coming! :-) More repairs, more updates,
some guitars out the door. It's been sorta quiet, but
things are moving along quite nicely.
3-31-2011 - A few more guitars have moved out. That's good,
because a few new names are coming to the studio. I will
update as they become a reality. I've spent the last few
days taking care of orders, and mostly repairs. Finally
catching up!
3-28-2011 - Quiet weekend for the first time in a while.
Working on repairs, cleaning up the workshop and re-ordering
supplies.
3-25-2011 - A couple of really nice
Gary Southwell Guitars
just came in to the studio.
3-23-2011 - A used Ramirez
4CWE just came in
3-21-2011 - Met with Italian Luthier extraordinaire
Fausto Casiraghi today. A
wonderful, warm, compassionate and humble man of extraordinary
ability. I feel a life long friend in this man, truly
honored to be working with him, looking forward to his success
as a brilliant luthier in this country.
3-17-2011 - Released
WTC 1A with TAB.
Finally! :-)
3-15-2011 - Trying to finish WTC 1A Tab. I'm working on
nothing else, trying to get this off of my plate.
- Photos are up
for the Hopf and 2 Signatures. I'm going to work on videos
and recording of many guitars over the next few days. Also
getting ready for a continuo part in an Opera, il Re Pastore.
Details to follow. No golf for me! Doh...
3-09-2011 - Gotoh
Tuning Machines are going live. Current photos are
being uploaded to the page today and tomorrow.
- More work was done on
WTC 1A TAB. 4 pieces to go....sweet!
- Fine tuning and
correcting issues on the
Gotoh Page
such as photos, prices, cart buttons, etc.
- A pre-owned
Dieter Hopf Virtuoso has come into the studio
3-08-2011 - Because I clearly have nothing better to do, I decided
to revamp the Guitar Page, with
various categories, pictures, columns, etc. Truth is, it
needed it badly. It was getting out of hand and a bit
disorganized. Photo shoots have to continue with the Gotoh
Machines, as well as 2 new
Hill Signatures that have come into the studio that are
incredibly beautiful. I'll actually get to some sheet
music development early tomorrow morning, so no worries,
Chris...the book is coming! :-)
- Updated
WTC 1A with TAB with
Prelude #6 late last night. Working on the book again this
morning, getting thru a bit of Fugue #6
3-07-2011 - Work on most of the guitar pages and photos are
complete. I'm finished editing the Gotoh Tuning Machine
Page, but must still take and upload photographs before I can go
live with it.
- The other
Hippner Flamencos are
listed under a Flamenco listing as well as under Hippner
- 2 more
Kenny Hill Signatures
arrived today. Awesome guitars.
3-05-2011 - Updated pages are beginning the upload process for
various guitars, starting with the
Hippner Santos #677
-
Francisco Domingo
FG-27 classical guitars are up, just have to update the page
with current photographs. Nice guitars for the sub $500
price point!
3-04-2011 -
Kenny Hill Signature #3004 Spruce Double Top with Lattice
Bracing & East Indian Rosewood is up. Now on to a photo
shoot of about 8 guitars or so. Still not happy with the
photos...gotdammit LOL
- I've
been working on photos shoots and web pages all day, with
clients coming in at 6 and 8PM. Photos are uploaded but
pages have yet to be built for the various guitars and tuners
that are in the studio. I swear, I'm going to take a month
off soon, go South and play golf until I die of dehydration!
Yeah baby!!
3-03-2011 - A few things are or will be going live in the next 2
days. Gotoh Machines are here.
Hippner Flamencos are
here. Kenny Hill
Signatures are here. Photos, with which I'm struggling
again, are incoming as well as web pages for the various guitars
and accessories are all in process.
2-27-2011 - Good news on the sheet music development side as
I was able to find time and energy for
WTC 1A with TAB having
completed Fugue #5. 6 pieces to go!
- A few new Hippner
Guitars are on the way - some Flamenco styles such as
Barbero - Ramirez - Santos Hernandez - Torres flamencas as well
as 2 traditional classical guitars i.e. Hauser 37 and Torres
smaller body. Sweet. If anyone hasn't noticed,
Darren is doing some exceptional work at very affordable prices.
- A new Kenny Hill
Signature is en route and another
Torres
Performance 630 is in progress for my studio.
- Photography has been an issue for me personally.
I'm looking for quality shots, almost art worthy, but with
exceptional clarity for those times you want to blow them up and
look at detail. Lighting has been an issue as well as
camera equipment. Laziness has a part in this too, as
sometimes I have so many shoots to do, I don't set up the proper
lighting. I'm looking at getting rid of untoward shadows,
better depth of field, standing the guitars upright, better back
drops, better lighting, etc. You have to believe me when I
tell you, this is harder than it seems. I've revamped my
process I don't know how many times, where I still feel I'm only
at 50%, if that. Better pictures have come out of the
new Hippner I
shot yesterday, as well as the
Blackshear Reyes
and the Bob
Desmond Pearl Beauty. Last night my good friend Rich
Fernandez helped me with some lighting and shot logistics, where
I was shooting the vintage Gibsons that I have in the studio.
The 60's Gibson Hummingbird came out beautifully. He is so
incredibly good at this kind of thing, being a pro in the
business back in the day. Unfortunately, I screwed up one
of my backdrops, forcing me to repaint it, touch it up and let
it dry completely, thank you very much!! LOL I can
be such a doofus sometimes ...hehehehe... hey, at least I know
it.
2-25-2011 - Gotoh
Tuning Machines are in the process of delivery to my studio.
Probably another 2 weeks to account for shipping and Customs.
Pages will go live once I have them here.
2-22-2011 - Many business issues are now confirmed as a slew
of vintage instruments are incoming. As of right now, I'm
working on getting a 1960 Gibson Super
400 Archtop onto the site in the next few days. I also
have 2 Vintage Gibson Acoustic Guitars
being prepped for listing. Another handful of amazing
vintage instruments are also in the pipeline. My main
concern surrounds photography issues, of which I have been
working on, being sorely dissatisfied with my current results.
Now, if anyone knows me, I'm not a happy guy when something is
bothering me. I will fix this, where the photography will
be splendid, rest assured :-)
2-20-2011 - New Gerundino
Fernandez Model from Hippner is on the way. I've been
continually busy. I have to find time for sheet music
development.
2-19-2011 - Incredibly busy with numerous aspects to the guitar
business. Sheet Music development has suffered. I've
quadrupled my advertising budget, where apparently, and I mean
holy hot tamales, Batman, I haven't had a chance to take a small
break. Really, it's been that crazy around here. I
think I finally need help. Well, I mean I've always needed
help, mentally, but now I need it for real...hehehe.
- A new batch of
Kenny Hill
Players came in
- A new
Hippner Torres came in
and she was gone the next morning. Various other
guitars are out the door, too many to list. I'll try to
get to the sheet music asap. Maybe it will slow down in
the coming week. My apologies to those patient people
waiting on my latest books.
- I'm in talks
with a few top notch luthiers about bringing their guitars here
to my studio. I'll keep you posted.
2-16-2011 - Photos and pages are updated for the latest
1976
Papazian -
Hill
Signature #3134 -

Barthell #138
2-14-2011 - A lot of stuff going on in the background.

Darren Hippner has a Torres coming to me this week.
- I've done a bit
more on the
WTC 1A with TAB,
up to the Prelude #5...I've been very busy.
- I met with a
talented luthier over the weekend. More to follow in this
regard.
- I have another
Manouk Papazian in
the studio, which needs to be photographed and catalogued.
1976, with Bolivian Rosewood, his name in the rosette, and a
sweet buttery sounding beauty of a guitar.
- A very strong
possibility of some monster Historical instruments coming my way
in the next few weeks. I'm going to stay hush hush on this
for the time being, but suffice to say, there aren't many of
these floating around :-) ..... there's more,
but this will suffice for the time being. I'm spending the day on
order fulfillment, additional sales, photography and write-ups
as I still have a ton of work to do.
2-08-2011 - A new Darren
Hippner Torres Model is on the way. Seriously gorgeous
guitar.
2-07-2011 - Busy weekend with numerous contacts and sales of
guitars. Music is in progress as well as more inventory
coming shortly. I'll be working on video uploads this week
as well as advertising, WTC 1A TAB - recording and photography
and other business issues.
- On the recording
and video side, I'll be highlighting all of the great luthiers
that work with me as well as my original music, some Bach and
some Weiss. They will be available thru my site as well as
YouTube
2-06-2011 - P&F #4 are complete. Getting tired of the work,
but it has to be done.
- Uploaded fast
photos of the
Kenny Hill Player Series Classical Guitars - a Spruce 640
and a Spruce 650
2-05-2011 - P&F #3 are complete
regarding
WTC 1A with TAB
and final editing.
2-04-2011
- In talks with Darren Hippner regarding a few of his latest and gorgeous
instruments. I'll keep you all posted.
- Trying to get to
some recording today, along with re-shooting the
Barthell #138. I
didn't realize the front shot was so washed out. It has to
be done again.
- Looks like a
major music center in North America will be picking up the
majority of my book catalog for
distribution in their stores. Very nice.
- Recordings are
up for the following guitars:
1959
Manouk Papazian and
Frederich Holtier Conservatorio
2-03-2011
- P&F #2 are complete
regarding
WTC 1A with TAB.
02-01-2011
- Doing photo shoots for various guitars including
Holtier Conservatorio -
Hill Player 628
Cedar (pre-owned) - Hill Player 628 Spruce - Manouk Papazian
- re-shot Barthell #149
- and a William King Flamenco that just came in to the studio.
01-29-2011
- Final editing has begun regarding
WTC 1A with TAB where P&F
#1 are finalized.
- A Hill
Player Classical Guitar is sold this morning. Nice
guitars.
01-28-2011
- The pagination and layout for the WTC 1A with TAB
publication is complete. Now I begin the final editing
stage.
01-26-2011
- More jpegs for
WTC 1A with TAB including
Prelude & Fugues 5 and 6
- Gotoh Tuning Machines are
ordered and in line for the next month. I'll update pages
as it becomes relevant. Pages are built, just waiting on
the actual product before going live with it all.
- I uploaded the remaining jpegs for WTC 1A with Tab, P&F
#7 and 8. Now the real work begins...FINAL EDIT! Ack....hehehe
01-25-2011
- Updated Jpegs for the
WTC 1A with TAB
including Prelude & Fugue #4
- A new line of inexpensive yet well-made guitars will be
coming on-line in the next day or so. Guitars from
Francisco Domingo and Antonio Hermosa with Guardian HSC and
shipping included. Sweet!
- The Antonio
Hermosa Line is in with Guardian Hard Shell Cases.
These look to be some very nice guitars at an extremely low
price point. Don't be deceived by other ads for these
guitars. They are NOT including a Hard Shell Case, they
are not including Shipping (with the extra weight of the case)
and they will give you nothing extra with these guitars.
See what I'm offering and note the difference. I know I
know...I'm the best, baby! LOL
01-24-2011
- Updated Jpegs are going in for the
WTC 1A with TAB
including Preludes & Fugues #1 thru 3
01-23-2011
- I've done the majority of the work regarding
WTC 1A with TAB.
It's now a matter of final editing, pagination, essays, etc that
I need to add. Had a good morning with it. Should be
a little while longer. I'm not rushing any of it.
01-19-2011
- I'm discounting the
Hill
Performance Guitars that I have here in the studio to $4895
each with shipping. I have 2 -
one in Cedar
- the other
in Spruce - seriously nice guitars. Kenny is the
man.
01-18-2011
- Discounted the
Hill Master
Series to $4295, shipping included.
Hill Rodriguez
and Hill Hauser
'37
01-13-2011
- The
New Savarez Cantiga Line is available thru my studio.
These strings are incredibly vibrant, long lasting, and easy on
the fingers. Available in HT Basses with either Cristal NT
Trebles or Alliance NT Trebles. I find this balance quite
suitable for the majority of guitars in the studio. High
Tension Basses - Normal Tension Trebles. It seems to avoid
choking the instrument off, which can be a problem with a number
of High Tension or Extra Hard Tension strings.
- I've been working the
WTC 1A book in TAB in the background. Should be done
pretty soon.
01-11-2011
- Frederich
Holtier has sent me his Conservatorio model. She's
pretty sweet.

- Started building luthier pages.
Slow process. They would much rather build guitars than
send me photos of themselves! :-)
01-08-2011
- Uploaded 2 recordings for various
Kenny Hill Player
Series Guitars - Vivace from some German guy...I kid I
kid....and an excerpt from one of my pieces.

- I have a
Frederich Holtier Conservatorio Model coming into the studio
late next week. Gorgeous honey bunny of a guitar at a very
good price.

- I'll be adding a
vintage line of Gotoh machines for older
guitars with a 39mm roller spacing. I've come across a
number of older guitars in need of tuning machines lately that
need these older style machines, so I took care of it! Cuz
that's what I do, baby.....LOL Gotoh machines should
be here by the middle of February 2011, giving time for
manufacturing and customs.
- working on recording some of the
Hill Player 628
models today among other aspects of the business.
01-05-2011
- Orders are in for the inexpensive line of guitars I've
discussed earlier. I've also ordered numerous additional
accessories. I'm in the process of building pages for them
as I write this.
- The
Hill Torres Performance 630mm is going to be delayed due to
the NAMM Show. Deliveries will begin after that show is
done on the 15th of January.
- Work continues on the
Well Tempered 1A TAB as well as
WTC 1B Standard Notation.
01-04-2011
- I'm bringing in a
Hill Torres Performance 630 Model to the studio.
Should be here by Friday. I'm also considering an
inexpensive line of guitars from
Francisco Domingo and Antonio Hermosa.
They would be priced between $250 and $499 with case and
shipping. I will post updates as I come to a decision.
01-02-2011
- Started earnest work again on the Well Tempered Clavier
Books starting with WTC 1A
with TAB and 1B, which is
standard notation and then another version with TAB Notation.
I'll be working them as I can manage the time in the next few
months. Clearly, I've been very busy with the numerous
aspects of my business, where, unfortunately, something has to
give. The books and publishing suffer, but I will try
harder and sleep less...cool? :-) I put up a
PDF of the first page of WTC 1A with TAB...the
famous Prelude...for your enjoyment.

this guitar and any other priced at $2500 or more.
