ALDO ILLOTTA
Aldo Illotta was born in Borgosesia in 1970, where he lives and works.
He graduated from the Civic School of Lutherie in Milan with a thesis on the guitars of the Guadagnini family of Turin carried out under the guidance of Lorenzo Girodo.
With Tiziano Rizzi he has studied, among other things, aspects concerning the philological reconstruction of nineteenth-century guitars. Led by Gabriele Negri he then perfected himself in the restoration of plucked instruments, after having conducted appropriate studies on historical guitars and mandolins. Parallel to his luthier studies he perfected himself in the construction of the modern classical guitar with Carlo Raspagni.
At the School of Lutherie in Milan he was, for a period of eight years, a lecturer in the laboratory of construction of plucked instruments, in the Modern Lutherie, Guitars sector , as well as for the ” Free Lutherie Courses ” for beginners.
In addition to the restoration and reconstruction of historical guitars and mandolins, he has to his credit the construction of modern classical and acoustic guitars also of reduced dimensions designed specifically for children.
He has exhibited his instruments at countless Violin Making Exhibitions: ” Music Messe ” (Frankfurt), ” Perugia Classico”,” Disma Music Show “(Rimini), Ferrara, Milan, Monopoli, Syracuse, Parma, Mottola,” Mondo Musica “(Cremona),” Acoustic guitar meeting “(Sarzana),” Acoustic Franciacorta “,” ADGPA guitar international redenzvous “(Conegliano Veneto),” Festival de Issoudun “(France).
On the occasion of master classes for guitarists and festivals, it organized lutherie meetings, creating the possibility of exchanging information and opinions on construction, restoration anduse of the guitar (“Guitar Festival”della Valle Ossola,” Guitar Festival “in Turin,” Guitar day “Caregno in Gardone – Val Trompia -” Franciacorta Acoustic Festival “).
In 2003, it obtained from the Piedmont Region the recognition “Piedmont Artisan Excellence” for the construction and restoration of musical instruments.
