Lorenzo Lippi of Milan Italy is a luthier specializing in the construction of mandolins, guitars, and lutes. He is also well known for his particularly refined reconstruction of historical instruments. He is also a teacher at the Civica Scuola di Liuteria di Milano since the early 1980’s, as well as being of the earliest graduates of the school.
He has always worked in the organological and technological studies in this field, is the author of several releases (both historical and scientific documents), and recently, has written some items for the new edition of “Grove Dictionary of Musical Instruments”. He is also often invited to give lectures and master class overseas.
Lorenzo has received many awards for his work, including First Prize and Gold Medal at the “Third International Instrument Making Competition” in Pisogne (BS) as well as the Artistic Craftsmanship Competition in Nazzano Roma, 2012.
Several musicians all over the world (Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Italy, France, Austria, USA, Switzerland, China, Korea, Taiwan, Mexico and Greece) perform Lorenzo Lippi’s instruments.
My personal meeting with Lorenzo told me immediately, this is a serious man, who knows his craft and his business. He builds an extraordinary guitar with this knowledge, guiding younger builders to be the best they can be, while enhancing and continuing to develop the finest traditions of Italian artisanship. He is an exceptional gentleman, one that I am very honored to represent here in the United States.
