1969 Hermann Hauser II #854 Spruce CSA

Another magnificent example of work by the old masters.  Hermann Hauser II ranks, in my opinion, among the best of them, and this guitar shows us why.  I don’t believe it necessary to go on and on about the quality of sound and play emanating from this guitar.  I have been fortunate to own many of Hauser II guitars, and have seen quite a few more, from the grandfather to the Hermann the III.  They are all mostly exemplary but Hermann II was very consistent.  Clearly an investment as well as a player’s guitar.

The guitar has had one owner, who took very good care of the guitar.

Issues with the guitar?  Yes, 2 very fine seam fissures that are not moving, one running along the A string and the other along the B string, from butt to bridge.  I’ve internally inspected, pushed, prodded, etc and there is no movement, no light.  I was told that the owner (the son’s father) said that the fissures developed in the early 1970’s.  I thought one of them was a grain pattern.  They are not cleated.  I am thinking that I might go inside and cleat them both for the sake of doing so.  It is not necessary.

Setup is sort of moderately high, at 4.3mm low E 12th fret, but the string break is nice, the power is evident, and it’s not overly high in my opinion.  I might wish to tweak the setup, but she’s playing very nicely right now.  The canted fingerboard is in beautiful shape, helping with required relief, yet keeping the neck straight.

The CSA is straight grained, as you would expect, with a beautiful reddish coloring throughout, that brightens along the outer edges.  No issues at all on the back/sides.

Serious inquiries only.  By appointment.  The price given is taking into consideration the 2 issues discussed.   I fix them, the price will go up significantly.  As you all know, I publish all prices, I will not waste your time with “Please Inquire”.  Have the courtesy to do the same.  Thank you in advance for your understanding

I prefer to sell this guitar domestically, within US Borders.

I discourage International buyers, unless you are willing to come here yourself and take delivery personally.  CITES paperwork is NOT available for this guitar, though it is eligible due to Pre-Convention Status. Rich

Listening with high quality headphones or audio equipment is highly recommended including EQ manipulation, if possible. We record everything flat with just a touch of Reverb to relieve dryness. My goal is to record the guitar as realistically as is possible. I speak in the recordings, my thoughts about the guitar (and possibly other things?).  My speaking also serves to give you my first impressions and to also give you a balance of the engineering (or lack thereof) versus the sound of the guitar.  I simply do not have time to engineer much of anything.  Thanks. Rich
