Comments
The guitar is a continuing example of the high level of build that Simon is known for, being highly coveted. The guitar has a clean bold sound, musical, expressive, with sufficient power for a small concert hall. We have refreshed the french polish a bit, front and back, giving her a score of at least 90% condition wise. She is 20 years old, and played, so there’s that. There remains evidence of play wear, a string rash behind the treble E, small and honest play wear (full disclosure, always). I will take quadrant photographs to help you see what I see. There is also the expected checking in the finish, regarding the Brazilian Rosewood and its typical behavior. My lighting shows this with exceptional clarity (maybe not a great thing, but it’s there, so you see it because I want you to see it).
A setup was performed, helping the guitar show her true colors, strung with D’Addario Normal Tension EJ-45’s. I found her a complete experience, a joy to play and listen to in the playing of Bach and Weiss, some of my own stuff. I love when a guitar makes me smile and laugh. I know I found a great one.
The case is NOT a TKL. I’ve seen this case before, fitted for the neck, cushions press in all the right places, the guitar fits the case well. I cannot recall the name, but I believe it is an English version of the TKL, fitted a bit better than said TKL.
At the time, the guitar was called his SE40 Model, which now translates to his Concert Model, based on combinative features of the Hauser, Torres and slight touches of Romanillos. The former 2 of which Simon is considered a foremost expert.
Simon builds out of his studios in Dartingon, Devon, England.
Please note that this guitar is NOT eligible for International Shipping. You are welcome to personally come to the gallery to pick the guitar up. Otherwise, the guitar should be sold domestically within the USA. The buyer assumes all responsibility once it leaves our gallery. Thank you kindly for your understanding. Richard

Listening with high quality headphones or audio equipment is highly recommended including EQ manipulation, if possible. We record everything flat with just a touch of Reverb to relieve dryness. My goal is to record the guitar as realistically as is possible. I speak in the recordings, my thoughts about the guitar (and possibly other things?). My speaking also serves to give you my first impressions and to also give you a balance of the engineering (or lack thereof) versus the sound of the guitar. I simply do not have time to engineer much of anything. Thanks. Rich
MP3 Audio – 211119-2002 Simon Ambridge 132 Spruce CSA – such a great guitar, clear, bold, solid in her voices with separation, balanced, colorful and expressive. Simon is clearly a master luthier, stating the obvious. Lovely instrument.
My Solo Book of sheet music is available here if you’re interested.
