2011 John Price #302 Cedar Myrtle

John Price builds a superb classical guitar with a musical voice, power and resonance.  The guitar is very active, bold, forceful and clear in all registers.  The guitar is also gorgeous, I mean, downright eye candy.  The Tasmanian Myrtle, very rare, is drop dead gorgeous!  I originally had this listed as Cocobolo.  I was, of course, mistaken, where John helped me with correct identification.  This is a really great guitar.

Listening with high quality headphones or audio equipment is highly recommended including EQ manipulation, if possible. We record everything flat with just a touch of Reverb to relieve dryness. My goal is to record the guitar as realistically as is possible. I speak in the recordings, my thoughts about the guitar (and possibly other things?).  My speaking also serves to give you my first impressions and to also give you a balance of the engineering (or lack thereof) versus the sound of the guitar. I simply do not have time to engineer much of anything. Thanks. Rich

MP3 Audio – 200715-2011 John Price 302 Cedar Myrtle – best way to describe this guitar is smoky sounding power!  Lilting trebles that cut the air along with basses that boom and bloom out of the sound hole.  Driven very nicely, she’s also in at least 90% condition, seemingly more of a studio demo with just the slightest evidence of string rash, nail ticks (all very tiny and actually hard to see) with small button rash on the back, again, hard to see.
