Just arrived, this guitar is superb! Ken used it for his own performance needs over the years, allowing the guitar to fill out her voice and mature. She is considered pre-owned and priced accordingly after a refinishing and cleanup by Ken himself.
Pretty, full bodied voice, easy to play. Intimate voice perfect for a small room recital. Excellent work by the young master luthier. Ken’s work has always been intriguing and accessible price-wise and this one is no different. Beautiful figured East Indian RW, nice coloring, deep and rich to the excellent cut of Western Red Cedar. Then of course, the guitar is fretted with Gold Evo FWG110 fret-wire and finished with blonde shellac, the guitar is quite nice. He’s apparently inspired and the guitar reflects it.
Ken works out of his workshop in Parkland, Missouri.

Listening with high quality headphones or audio equipment is highly recommended including EQ manipulation, if possible. We record everything flat with just a touch of Reverb to relieve dryness. My goal is to record the guitar as realistically as is possible. I speak in the recordings, my thoughts about the guitar (and possibly other things?). My speaking also serves to give you my first impressions and to also give you a balance of the engineering (or lack thereof) versus the sound of the guitar. MP3 Audio – 190223-2011 Ken Whisler #33 Cedar EIRW The guitar is beautiful, intimate and expressive. Nice job by Ken. Guitar is a pleasure to play with deep basses and lilting trebles, very accessible setup and so on. A few sketches and a lot of rambling around. Guitar has new strings so a bit of tuning going on as well.
