2012 Jean Noel Rohé Classical Guitar #53 Spruce CSA

The guitar arrived this morning and she is as expected.  Superb in every imaginable way.  Her voice is throaty, powerful, expressive and so very musical.  She is setup very well, made to be driven, yet plays with ease.  The surprising warmth of the Spruce is unexpected, but the reward is sustain coupled with a musicality that is immediately evident.  Inspected, measured and internally photographed by Alan Chapman of MA.  I would imagine because Alan heard the same that I did, his curiosity got the better of him, where he had to know what makes this guitar tick.

The guitar needs to be heard and played to truly appreciate the high level that Jean-Noel brings to the table.  Double sided using Cypress, it is immediately apparent that he is a protegé of Daniel Friederich and Dominique Field (among others), with a rich bell-like auditorium sound to the overall guitar.

A copy of the CITES paperwork is readily available, as we have it in hand.

Condition is excellent, as we have determined to refinish the guitar (very lightly) removing any and all nail marks and other playing wear (which was all honest from usage).  As a result, she is exceptional.  Work was done by Alan Chapman and just finished in mid-October.  She looks superb.  The guitar just arrived today, November 17th, after allowing for a 1 month cure of the finish.  She looks just about brand new.  One smallish string ding behind the treble E was not able to be addressed fully, but it’s almost invisible from a few feet away.

Jean-Noel, building out of Strasbourg, France, now has an 8 year waiting list.   She is awesome.

Listening with high quality headphones or audio equipment is highly recommended

MP3 Audio – rohe-2012-spruce-csa – the sustain is ridiculous  LOL – the guitar plays beautifully.  In the hands of a great player, she will shine in every possible way.  Numerous samples are played here, including Prelude #13 – Valerie’s Air and Sam’s Lullaby – I just like to play this guitar 🙂

My Solo Book of sheet music is available here if you’re interested.

I recorded her again, because she’s fun to play  🙂

More MP3 Audio – 2012-rohe-02 – just playing her is an experience.

I am playing a study that I wrote and arranged called “Gamma di Preludio” which is simply all about displaying the tonal range of the guitar. It includes a shortened version of “Lasciati Avvolgere” by Giorgio Signorile which helps to highlight the low strings as well as the open E and B strings. At the very least, it is fun to play.
