Comments
The guitar has just arrived. Photographed and played by me personally, first impressions are clear, sweet and silky. I will write more upon recording.
She has very little to no playing wear, except for the slightest bit of rubbing of the finish on the back in a localized area. The owner bought the guitar and then simply never played it. This is a “superb” classical guitar. Bear in mind that the accompanying photographs can be opened in a “new” window and blown up quite large, making it easier for you to inspect the instrument visually. There is nothing of note to say about her overall condition. The guitar was well cared for and then essentially left alone.
She has a beautiful round tone, very magical. Clearly voiced, depth in the basses, growl in the mids, crystalline trebles, with action at 4.0mm at the low E 12th fret and 3.5mm high E, with no evidence of buzz. You can drive this guitar.

Dominique was originally inspired by the Ignacio Fleta of his then guitar teacher, and then later by Daniel Friederich. He considers his instruments to be somewhat of a blending of the qualities of both of these builders. His overall preference is to build with Western Red Cedar, much like Friederich, where he believes that the warmth, volume, sustain and beauty is unmatched.
Delarue guitars are noted also for exceptional tonal colors and a broad dynamic range with remarkable balance and clarity. Besides a ‘Friederich-like” sound, his craftsmanship is always elegant and refined. His woodworking skills were honed at an early age as evidenced by the delicate and intricate quality of his workmanship. Dominique’s workshop is located within Saint Chamas located within the Aix en Provence of France. South of Lyon and just Northwest of Marseilles.

Listening with high quality headphones or audio equipment is highly recommended including EQ manipulation, if possible. We record everything flat with just a touch of Reverb to relieve dryness. My goal is to record the guitar as realistically as is possible. I speak in the recordings, my thoughts about the guitar (and possibly other things?). My speaking also serves to give you my first impressions and to also give you a balance of the engineering (or lack thereof) versus the sound of the guitar. I simply do not have time to engineer much of anything. Thanks. Rich
