2014 Manuel Adalid Hauser Bench Copy Spruce CSA

Please note first that this is Bench Copy, designed to be modeled exactly after the 1937 Hauser I.  Manuel is an incredible modeler of guitars, and one of the most experienced in all of Spain at what he does, which is build great Spanish style guitars.

This guitar is really impressive.  Very clean work, easy play, and bam, what a sound!  I mean seriously, Hausers don’t normally sound like this, very explosive, active soundboard, very clear, crystal trebles with a vibrant and resonant mid voice and basses coupled with that strong clear Spruce Hauser characteristic and I was left with a big smile on the face.  This is a really nice guitar, actually a great guitar, well built, worth much more than what is being asked.

This guitar is Dealer Demo from a good friend of mine in Puerto Rico, who played it quite a bit, out on stage and otherwise. There is a 1 nail mark in the top, quite insignificant and difficult to see.

There is much to say about this Hauser.  First, it is very special.  It is Number 2 in a very select series of guitars built by Manuel and it is signed by him personally, built in his personal workshop in Alboraya.  I have an Adalid Custom Classical Guitar based on a Reyes here, built by Manuel in this same workshop.  Gorgeous, bringing his 50+ years of experience to the table in these extraordinary builds.

I should say that this is a Bench Copy of the 1937 Hauser Segovia Edition, as compared to other models out there that are “based” on a Hauser ’37.   Manuel builds another Hauser model, which is based on the Hauser ’37, but it cannot be called a bench copy.  There is a difference!  I talk about this below, including woods, workmanship and most especially, the sound.  Man, the sound!

Another Note….this guitar is only available in my shop.  If anyone else says they have the Segovia Hauser ’37 Bench Copy built by Manuel Adalid, they are not telling the truth.

Right now, this is the 2nd one built exclusively by Manuel himself, and it is only available here.  Moving forward, I will be the only shop carrying this select line of guitars built by Manuel.  I’m personally excited by this, for a number of reasons, but the most important being that they are seriously special.  I don’t really care who you’re playing or what you spent, this guitar is better.  The voice, the sound, the play, the complexity, the clarity, all of it is there and more.

The Spruce is specially selected German Spruce.  Some call Euro Spruce German.  This is actually German Spruce.  It is drop dead gorgeous.

The Central South American Rosewood is also selected special.  You can see why in the photos.

Manuel worked closely with a well known guitarist of incomparable ability, who also has an excellent ear, to develop this extraordinary line of guitars.  From the choices of the woods to the tapping of the instrument’s boards, to the minutest detail, we are looking at one of the most reasonable Hauser replicas or bench copies seen in a while.

Look, some people say something like this very loosely, in my opinion.  I’m telling you, this guitar is incredible.

The machines are built by the Fustero people exclusively for Manuel Adalid.  They have developed a line of magnificent machines that perfectly complement many of the guitars that I have here from Manuel.  They cannot be found elsewhere for the time being.

The play is magnificent.  Low and accessible, it is designed for a player with proper RH Tech, but, of course, anyone can play her.

The sound.  Oh yeah, the sound is the kick in the pants.  True to almost a fault.  In the spirit of the Hauser, this guitar embodies the ghost of the Hauser I.  I kid you not.  I don’t speak out of turn, or exaggerate.   It’s not necessary in my business.  Either something is awesomely good or it is not.  If it isn’t, it’s not available here in the studio.

Listening with high quality headphones or audio equipment is highly recommended including EQ manipulation, if possible. We record everything flat with just a touch of Reverb to relieve dryness. My goal is to record the guitar as realistically as is possible. I speak in the recordings, my thoughts about the guitar (and possibly other things?).  My speaking also serves to give you my first impressions and to also give you a balance of the engineering (or lack thereof) versus the sound of the guitar. I simply do not have time to engineer much of anything. Thanks. Rich

MP3 Audio190920-2014 Manuel Adalid Hauser Bench Copy Spruce CSA – This is my own recording of the guitar, with High Tension Nylons 90lb. (Savage Classical Guitar Strings) I wanted to record this guitar, as it so impressive in its accuracy, precision, and clarity of voice and responsiveness.  A pleasure.  Federica Canta played a short piece or so on this guitar while she was here.  I thought I should share, as she loved the guitar (find this in the next row below my own recording).  I have since changed the strings to high tension nylon, as you can hear below.

MP3 Audio – 190917-Federica Canta-2014 Manuel Adalid Hauser Bench Copy Spruce CSA – Federica Canta practicing her program for a bit on this guitar.  There were some kind of scratchy Savarez trebles on this guitar.  I since changed the strings, which you can hear above in my own recording.
