Comments
Steve continues a fine tradition of coupling power and song in his latest offering. Powerful and expressive, I loved the fact that she was forceful when I needed it, yet able to tone down her ferociousness and give me a sweet musicality.
Numerous refinements by Steve have led to a superior musical experience. Lovely guitar.
Steve’s workmanship is superb. This is an excellent concert classical guitar in every regard.
All specs and measurements are as per Steve himself.
The guitar was just re-topped with a Cedar soundboard, which I have to say, looks beautiful. The guitar, additionally, is very loud and yet manages to be quite sweet sounding.
The guitar is a year older, thus the lower price. Steve sent this to me as a luthier demo, clearly was played in his shop, as evidenced by a few nicks in and around the back side, a little bit of swirling on the back (all insignificant). His guitars usually sell for in and around $7500 or more

Listening with high quality headphones or audio equipment is highly recommended including EQ manipulation, if possible. We record everything flat with just a touch of Reverb to relieve dryness. My goal is to record the guitar as realistically as is possible. I speak in the recordings, my thoughts about the guitar (and possibly other things?). My speaking also serves to give you my first impressions and to also give you a balance of the engineering (or lack thereof) versus the sound of the guitar. I simply do not have time to engineer much of anything. Thanks. Rich
MP3 Audio – 211127-2015 Steve Porter 31 Cedar EIRW – sweet baby Jeezus, this guitar is cranking. Quietly, she’s evocative, but hold on, if you dig in and go bright, she will cut through most anything. I went completely raw on this recording, even more so than usual, to give you as real a sense of the guitar as I could. She’s long, so be patient, but that’s also an indication that I was having a blast with the guitar. She’s really nice, with that smoky, woody kind of sound, and almost anything else in between.
My Solo Book of sheet music is available here if you’re interested.
