2016 Kim Lissarrague Deluxe #249 Cedar Cocobolo Lattice
The guitar arrived June 22, 2021
This is Kim’s Deluxe Model with upgraded Tuning Machines by Rodgers and a Custom fitted Karura Case, along with certain additions and embellishments to the binding and purflings, ebony headstock, bound fretboard, etc.
The guitar is brilliant, warm, evocative, with tremendous coloration and the ability to power her up. I actually attempted to convince the seller to keep the guitar, it’s that good.
She is dated 2016, has no Rosewood that is restricted, so CITES is not an issue. Smart man who builds a superior guitar. Sharp all around.
The condition is played, with honest play wear, small ticks in and around the rosette, a bit of finish wear on the back that I will polish and buff tomorrow. I’m good at what I do, the guitar will look quite nice when I’m done. Quadrant photos of the top are included. The back and sides came out beautifully, as expected, no issues.
Kim says, “I have developed my own designs based on the ‘Australian School’ of guitar making. The guitar I have to offer you is a lattice-braced, arched back classical guitar, which has superb projection, clarity and sustain. Combining a full and rich tone, with bright trebles and warm basses.” Wholeheartedly agree, Kim’s guitar is very warm and lyrical, but separation of voice is readily apparent. Kim builds in a small workshop in Blue Mountains, west of Sydney, Australia, creating a limited number of high quality guitars per year.

Listening with high quality headphones or audio equipment is highly recommended including EQ manipulation, if possible. We record everything flat with just a touch of Reverb to relieve dryness. My goal is to record the guitar as realistically as is possible. I speak in the recordings, my thoughts about the guitar (and possibly other things?). My speaking also serves to give you my first impressions and to also give you a balance of the engineering (or lack thereof) versus the sound of the guitar. I simply do not have time to engineer much of anything. Thanks. Rich
MP3 Audio – 210701-2016 Kim Lissarrague Deluxe 249 Cedar Cocobolo Lattice – the guitar is stupid good. Ferrari power, not needed, but it’s there if you want with all the color and expression, nuance you could want. Awesome guitar, that I would keep for myself in a heartbeat.
My Solo Book of sheet music is available here if you’re interested.
James Erickson of LIU came to the gallery to do some video work. He performs Andrew York “Snowflight” on this gorgeous guitar. (this is #327)
