2019 Edwin Aponte Spruce EIRW
Another beautiful guitar, this time from Puerto Rico, where Edwin proves himself to clearly be a craftsman of reckoning, building elegant instruments that resound with expressiveness and musicality. Her play is easy and comfortable in both hands. Projection and volume are perfect for the concert hall with excellent separation of voice and coloration. The Spruce is beautiful and the East Indian Rosewood is gorgeous. See photos.
I took a special trip a few months ago to visit with my good friend Carlos, who introduced me to Edwin as well as Juan Miguel Acevedo. Both men are clearly the best luthiers building out of Puerto Rico.
Edwin Aponte and his guitars really caught my attention as they were wildly resonant, easily playable, with expression and that inimitable guitar character that makes our instrument so unique. Visiting him at his beautiful home in the mountains, his studio is in a separate climate controlled building that spoke to his professionalism. I thoroughly enjoyed this visit, looking forward to his guitars. They have finally arrived, packed securely and yes sir, they are great. I’ll enjoy this recording session.
Photos and measurements are up to date.
Listening with high quality headphones or audio equipment is highly recommended
