“#69 is underway, Top is master grade cedar, back and sides are pomelle sapele with East Indian rosewood bindings. I’m using fan braces on this one, modified to my thoughts of what will work well.

26/3/21 I’ve begun the polishing on this guitar, I’m hoping to be finished by early May.

The guitar has been strung today ( 29/4/21 ) and it takes about 3 days for the strings to stop stretching and settle. Photos coming soon.

2/6/21 I’m very happy with the traditional/modified fan bracing. The guitar is strung with Knobloch Double Silver Actives in medium tension and is sounding as good as I’d hoped.”

For those who may not know, Pomelle Sapele is a desirable wood from its durability standpoint, its beauty, as well as its musical quality.  This wood is rated a Hardwood, tougher than Red Oak?  She’s considered superior to Mahogany in all ways,  as it is stiffer and heavier than African Mahogany.  Look at the shimmering affect of the wood, as in a Maple with a magical effect, I like to say eye candy, but really?  It is translucent in its visual.  You can read more here in my Tonewood Discussion.

Deluxe Rubner tuners with bearings on the rollers ( each roller has a bearing at the plate end and at the end of the roller, thus two bearings per roller, which gives the smoothest and most controllable string adjustment I’ve seen so far ), adjustable truss rod. The entire guitar is French polished with a cross linking shellac that is far more resistant to sweat and humidity. The strings are Knobloch “Actives”  double silver in a medium tension.  The guitar is housed in a top of the line BAM Case.

The guitar is gorgeous.  Her sound is powerful, crisp, clear with beautiful sustain.  I found her easy to play, with the warmest sound imaginable. Action is low yet drive-able.  Ashley’s work is simply pretty with a musical, expressive voice to match.

The woods are ridiculously beautiful.  Ashley, again and again, goes way out of his way to create the most beautiful and luscious sounding guitars.  Ashley must be considered among the best from Australia, hands down.

Media

Listening with high quality headphones or audio equipment is highly recommended including EQ manipulation, if possible. We record everything flat with just a touch of Reverb to relieve dryness. My goal is to record the guitar as realistically as is possible. I speak in the recordings, my thoughts about the guitar (and possibly other things?).  My speaking also serves to give you my first impressions and to also give you a balance of the engineering (or lack thereof) versus the sound of the guitar.  I simply do not have time to engineer much of anything.  Thanks. MP3 Audio – 211130-2021 Ashley Sanders 69 Cedar Pomelle Sapele Traditional – amazing guitar, with power, voice, highs and lows.  Pretty too!  The modified Australian lattice tending toward the more traditional is a special affect that has much merit, in my professional opinion.  This modified traditionally braced guitar is a shift toward the wholly traditional build for Ash, where he has created a wholesome, velvety texture to the musical experience.
