Darren and I have been working together since 2003, where he has always impressed with the modeling and building of his guitars, his deep, instinctive knowledge, coupled with his extreme work ethic. He built a number of Lattice models just recently, cherry picking one for me and the gallery.
The woods are phenomenal, her sound decidedly clean and pure in her voices and separation. The play on her is gorgeous. Powerful, musical and expressive with easy play. I found her round and warm sounding, with the expected bells of the trebles, exhibiting excellent balance throughout her ranges.
Speaking of the woods, the Spruce is phenomenal, 3 dimensional in her affect. The Brazilian Rosewood is straight grained, old school, with the Center planking offsetting some beautiful touches. This is top notch work by Darren, what I have come to expect of a superior builder.
The lower action, setup really well, allows the guitar to play quite easily.
The Brazilian RW back & sides are some choice woods with some expected checking in the Rosewoods. You can see this checking in the various photos. The guitar plays and sounds as sweet as possible. An excellent guitar by Darren Hippner.

Media
Listening with high quality headphones or audio equipment is highly recommended including EQ manipulation, if possible. We record everything flat with just a touch of Reverb to relieve dryness. My goal is to record the guitar as realistically as is possible. Thanks. Rich
MP3 Audio – 220625-2022 Darren Hippner 1088 Lattice Spruce CSA – the guitar is very clear, with a smooth warmth and blooming basses that really works well. There is surprising power, as well, coming from the natural wood lattice (modified). I consider Darren a downright prodigy when it comes to building. The setup helped the guitar to play and sound beautifully in my hands.
