2024 Toni De Stefano TDS Concert Spruce EIRW

Toni De Stefano is one of numerous incredibly talented Italian luthiers that have chosen to work with me and it is another in a line of spectacular guitars.  This is one of his Concert Models, as defined by the TDS designation, his initials obviously, clearly a work of art as can be seen in the photos.   She is superbly and clearly voiced, with excellent projection, bold and direct, with lyrical qualities that many wish they had available and workmanship that is to be admired.  He builds in the traditional sense with a 7 fan bracing system using all wood.

Rubner Machines have a long line of top end machines, which is not really known about here in the States.  These are excellent machines, complimenting the guitar perfectly.  The case is from Eastman, fitting the guitar really well.  The purfling work is exemplary, classic and elegant, as you can see clearly in the accompanying photos.  The play is superb, while the sound is sublime, balanced, nuanced and lyrical.  An excellent offering from Master Toni.

It is an honor to have his guitars here in our gallery.  The guitar is simply superb.  Toni specializes in historical instruments, from Hauser to Torres, Simplicio, Lacote, Panormo, Terzina, as well as Baroque Instruments and Lutes.  His work is simply to die for as you can see in this page here.  Read more about Toni De Stefano at this page

Toni De Stefano was born in Milan on 13 October 1975. In 1999 he enrolled at the Civic School of Violin Making in Milan where, over the years, he managed to learn the most refined techniques concerning the construction of plucked instruments.  At the same time as the courses last, it begins to put into practice the lessons received; immediately began to build classical guitars according to the ancient Spanish tradition.

In 2004 he finished his studies at the Civic School of Violin Making in Milan specializing in the construction of musical instruments with a penchant for ancient music.

Subsequently, he began a post-diploma internship in Bologna at the violin maker Anna Radice, where he deepened the constructive themes of the baroque instruments of the Baroque period. Thanks to the collaboration with various professionals in the music field, he has deepened in recent years the techniques of construction and repair of plucked musical instruments ranging from the nineteenth century to the present day.

Listening with high quality headphones or audio equipment is highly recommended including EQ manipulation, if possible. We record everything flat with just a touch of Reverb to relieve dryness. My goal is to record the guitar as realistically as is possible. I speak in the recordings, my thoughts about the guitar (and possibly other things?).  My speaking also serves to give you my first impressions and to also give you a balance of the engineering (or lack thereof) versus the sound of the guitar.  I simply do not have time to engineer much of anything.  Thanks. Rich

Photos are from Toni himself.  We will photograph the guitar as per our usual routine upon arrival.  For some reason, I am having trouble uploading these images.  Click on the links above, they should load up.  Weird?  Sorry about that.  Richard

Photos are updated as the guitar arrived Wednesday afternoon.

MP3 Audio – Coming Soon! – She plays like melted butter.  My typical discussion and pieces that highlight the power and voice of the ranges.  I adore this guitar and Toni, highly respecting his attention to detail and artisanship.
