Comments
I was fortunate enough to meet with one of the most talented luthiers from Italy, a few years ago in Rome at the Roma Expo, a wonderful experience for me personally. I have found that luthier relationships take a long while to develop, where she has trusted me with her latest work. I am honored.
She has sent me her 2026 Silvia Zanchi #62C30 RegLtd Spruce Ebony Lattice 650mm. This guitar was present at the Roma Expo of 2026, where I personally played the 3 guitars built exclusively for the show, a high end luthier presentation exhibit featuring scholars, luthiers and players of Italian descent. I chose the 2 you will see on the site, including this one. Spectacular guitars! The Expo is a special and lovely event, by the way.
This, the RegLtd, standing for Limited Edition, meant to highlight her best artisan work, is a special instrument, with her choices of select and rare woods, incredible purfling and rosette work. The guitar and its presentation speak for itself. Not much I can add, except to say, look at the wood? The Spruce is flamed, shimmering! The Ebony is stunning.
Gods, I do love this lady! The tasteful elegance, the mathematics, the symmetry, present a wondrous example of the Italian School of Lutherie and a statement of graceful class from Silvia Zanchi.
The guitar is beautiful. The materials used in her presentation are magnificent, including, the rosette made of wood (note the flamed cedrela purflings), metal (small brass rectangular frames; inside them there are padouk or maple with a black frame), mop and abalone dots, synthetic resin; The bindings are made of snakewood. In the purflings of back and sides you can find abalone, in the purflings of the soundboard you can find strips of wood and other two made of brass; part of the label is drawn by Silvia, where the design is repeated within the rosette.
All of this represents the Lattice Bracing if you look at the rosette, tie block and other hints including the background of the label. There is also a 7th fret dot on the fretboard. The guitar is strung with Savarez ARJ 540s. The guitar is finished with the newly created Barnett Machines with fine milled engraving.
I took an extra shot of the top, one where I increased the contrast, so that you can see the bearclaw in the top clearly.
This is now one of many guitars I have had here in the gallery. She is so bloody tasteful, and clearly a master of her work. I am so pleased with the guitars, I wrote to Silvia immediately. Simply Superb! Her pricing has become more expensive over the years as she is becoming considered amongst the elite with such diligence, love of her craft and training.

Listening with high quality headphones or audio equipment is highly recommended including EQ manipulation, if possible. We record everything flat with just a touch of Reverb to relieve dryness. My goal is to record the guitar as realistically as is possible. I speak in the recordings, my thoughts about the guitar (and possibly other things?). My speaking also serves to give you my first impressions and to also give you a balance of the engineering (or lack thereof) versus the sound of the guitar. I simply do not have time to engineer much of anything. Thanks. Rich
