Esteve 9CB Cedar EIRW Classical Guitar
Meeting Manuel Adalid was a special treat for me, knowing of his longstanding pedigree in the industry, as well as his work ethic. Playing some of his concert instruments was an equal pleasure. I decided then and there that I would have Manuel’s best work in my own gallery. From the Lacote to the Torres to the Hauser to his own Anniversario, I was so immensely taken with his guitar’s ability to voice the music authentically, with subtlety, and with grace.
The 9C/B is and has been a favorite guitar of mine for quite a few years, given her price point and overall quality. I had some of the original 9CBs from Manuel thru Ron Fernandez of California, having always been impressed with the sound, playability and fiery volume that these guitars are very capable of for the aggressive player. This is probably due to the fine Spanish construction of the guitar coupled with the Carbon Fiber Bracing utilized within.
Please note that Manuel Adalid and Esteve Guitarras are the same company. Manuel has streamlined the guitar labels, where Esteve or Francisco Esteve is the label given to all of his production guitars and Adalid given to the concert level guitars. He also has his own line of Alboraya Adalid, which signifies his own home workshop. Manuel is an incredibly gifted and knowledgeable luthier.
All Solid Wood Classical Guitars of this impressive sound and volume are few and far between. Again, these are a truly superb line of guitars built by Manuel and his team of luthiers.
Clearly the build is superior, with solid tops from Canada (Western Red Cedar), with African Ebony Fingerboards layered upon an Brazilian Cedar Neck. The sound has a strong Spanish characteristic, again, very loud due to the Carbon Fiber Bracing, while the playability is surprisingly easy. Thinly lacquered, as are all of Manuel’s guitars up to and including the 9C/B, the guitar is very vibrant against the body, while projecting quite nicely, suitable for recitals and performance, university, conservatory or otherwise. Another outstanding value from Manuel Adalid and the Esteve family of Spanish classical guitars.
Additionally, I do a personal setup and adjustment of each guitar. I like things to be well done, something I’m certain you can appreciate.
The price includes a Humicase Protege HSC along with our Accessory Package.
Please note that I take a photo of any one guitar for the model represented, as I can not take multiple photos of each guitar. I do not cherry pick when I do this (no time). I am happy to take quick photos for you of any particular guitar if you are interested. All to say, these are STOCK photos. 🙂
Listening with high quality headphones or audio equipment is highly recommended including EQ manipulation, if possible. We record everything flat with just a touch of Reverb to relieve dryness. My goal is to record the guitar as realistically as is possible. I speak in the recordings, my thoughts about the guitar (and possibly other things?). My speaking also serves to give you my first impressions and to also give you a balance of the engineering (or lack thereof) versus the sound of the guitar. I simply do not have time to engineer much of anything. Thanks. Rich
Please NOTE that photos of all “production guitars” are stock photos, taken randomly for our numerous selection of guitars, whether they be from Kenny Hill – Esteve – Adalid or others. It is virtually impossible and arduous to photograph each of our available production guitars. I am, however, happy to take a few photos for you of any particular guitar with which your are interested.
Handcrafted instruments are photographed and listed individually, usually identified by a serial number, date and or some other combination.
MP3 Audio – 201127-Esteve 9CB Cedar EIRW – a great guitar with dynamic responsiveness and coloration. Nicely setup, easily played.
