Esteve Classical Guitar – Model 7CB – Spruce

Meeting Manuel Adalid was a special treat for me, knowing of his longstanding pedigree in the industry, as well as his work ethic.   Playing some of his concert instruments was an equal pleasure.  I decided then and there that I would have Manuel’s best work in my own gallery.   From the Lacote to the Torres to the Hauser to his own Anniversario, I was so immensely taken with his guitar’s ability to voice the music authentically, with subtlety, and with grace.

The Esteve Classical Guitar Model 7CB (or Esteve 7C/B is its official designation by Manuel Adalid) is the beginning of a truly superb line of guitars built by Manuel and his team of luthiers.  Last in the line of laminate woods for the Back and Sides, regardless, the sound is clear and strong.  Looking within, it is difficult to tell that it is constructed with laminate, it is that good.

Clearly the build is superior, with solid tops from Canada or Germany (Western Red Cedar or German Spruce), but the standout is the sound, featuring the Carbon Bracing (thus the C/B), which starts to push the envelope in terms of volume and vibrancy, resonance and projection.  These are truly nice classical guitars that any student would love to own and practice on thru their preliminary studies.

The price includes a Guardian Black or Kenny Hill Custom HSC and Ground Shipping to the 50US

Listening with high quality headphones or audio equipment is highly recommended including EQ manipulation, if possible. We record everything flat with just a touch of Reverb to relieve dryness. My goal is to record the guitar as realistically as is possible. I speak in the recordings, my thoughts about the guitar (and possibly other things?).  My speaking also serves to give you my first impressions and to also give you a balance of the engineering (or lack thereof) versus the sound of the guitar.  I simply do not have time to engineer much of anything.  Thanks. Rich

Please NOTE that photos of all “production guitars” are stock photos, taken randomly for our numerous selection of guitars, whether they be from Kenny Hill – Esteve – Adalid or others.  It is virtually impossible and arduous to photograph each of our available production guitars.  I am, however, happy to take a few photos for you of any particular guitar with which your are interested.

Handcrafted instruments are photographed and listed individually, usually identified by a serial number, date and or some other combination.

MP3 Audio – 171222-esteve-7cb-spruce – clear and very pretty sounding.  Excellent Spanish built guitar for the money.

My Solo Book of sheet music is available here if you’re interested.

I am a beginner classical guitar player and I was looking for my first classical guitar. For the price, I couldn’t be happier. This guitar sounds great, deep bass balanced with clear treble. It has good intonation and is very playable. The quality of the sound is beyond what I would expect at this price point. I got the spruce top option.

The quality of the finish is not perfect, but the minor blemishes present do not detract from my satisfaction. Just to give an idea of what I mean: in the curved part of the headstock slots, the finish didn’t penetrate the grain of the wood and light spots are visible. There are a few minor blemishes in the finish, barely noticeable. There is a piece of wood (a brace ?) inside that comes close enough to the soundhole so as to be visible. This can be sanded down easily enough.

It exceeds expectations in every category at this price point and I would only take off 1/2 star because it is not perfect. But since 1/2 stars are not available, I will have to go with 5, because I am THAT happy with it.

Over all, it has it where it counts. Sound, action, playability, and it is beautiful to look at.
