Quick attack, buttery feel, creamy sound, loud as all get out.  This particular Cedar is quite nice, very warm, yet very clear with expression and musicality at your fingertips.

The sound, the power, the voice and the sheer joy you experience picking up this guitar can be very surprising.  The thing is, I’ve been in possession of these 630mm and 640mm scale guitars from Kenny Hill before, so I’m not that surprised.

They are quite powerful and very musical.

There are all good things to say.  These guitars are getting more difficult to come by, so if you have the chance, get her while the getting is there.  Don’t hesitate..you won’t be disappointed.

Suitability

This guitar is set up and plays like a parlor guitar in the neck and the hands, but feels like a regular sized guitar when you sit with her, all with superior power and excellent sensitivity and musicality.

It is suitable for those with smaller hands, between 7-8″ of spread between the tip of one’s thumb and pinky, in a comfortably outstretched hand.  A 640mm may be better for those with an 8-9″ spread.  A 650mm is usually best suited to a hand of 9″ or greater.

They are always more powerful than you expect.  Much more.  The guitar will not be discounted, reflecting the difficulty in acquiring this guitar.

To be clear, this guitar is 7/8 sized as per Kenny, which is in between a Torres sized classical (small body) and a standard sized classical that has an 11″ and 14 1/2″ widths of bout.  If you’re confused, don’t be.  In general, the measurements are about 1/4″ less than a standard classical guitar of 650mm scale length.  See the measurements above.

So, 630mm  scale length in a body that feels just about the same as any classical guitar you’ve held previously.  Very nice indeed!

Kenny Hill Performance Classical Guitar #3897  MP3 – 151031-k-hill-performance-3897-630-78-cedar – so powerful, almost too much so.  I had to  move back and adjust levels on the mics to get it distortion free.  some of my Morning Song and Prelude #7 in D Major – the highs and the balance.  You can hear that special quality in the guitar, the high E string has a whole lot of sing in her.  Sweet.  (personally, I sound particularly awful of late….my tech is so poor since the injury, as are my abilities to focus, but I’m trying…don’t judge the guitar on my playing is all I’m saying…she’s way better than I am at the moment LOL).
