Description
Kenny Hill Player 615mm Cedar with PORTS Classical Guitar
The Kenny Hill Player Classical Guitar Series are new models that have been in development for some time. At a more accessible price, these guitar feature selected Indian rosewood, cedar, spruce and cypress: all solid woods, and a thinly applied lacquer finish.
The Player Series Classical Guitar offers the player a wide variety of choices: each model is available with an Engelmann Spruce or Western Red Cedar soundboard, 650mm or shorter 640mm string lengths and lower. Incredibly, the Spruce tops have silk rays or medullar rays throughout, highly prized and they really do sound terrific. The Cedar tops have beautiful straight grain, with a lush ruddy look to them, sounding warm and wet, most evidencing the same Medullar Rays. The Indian Rosewood backs and sides are also superior. You might expect to see these types of woods selected for guitars well over $3000 or more in price.
Please note that this version of the Hill Player Series has 2 Sound Ports exactly as you would see in Kenny’s Performance or Signature Series…$200 upcharge for this feature, reflected in the sale price when you add to cart. Thanks.

Players with shorter hands and/or fingers should seriously consider the 640mm 628mm or the 615mm scale.
- My fitting sessions with numerous players over the years has proven that this slightly smaller scale is simply more comfortable for the majority of players, while sacrificing nothing in terms of tone and volume. The difference is the length of the neck, the width of the nut at 48-51mm and the proportional fretting of the instrument.
The 650mm is suitable for those players whose spread between thumb and pinky is 9″ or greater.
You can also measure your pinky tip to index finger tip spread comfortably. You should be at 6.5″-7″ on this measurement – you would adjust 1″ less for each scale length lower.
The 640mm is suitable for those players whose spread between thumb and pinky is 8″-9″
The 628mm is best for players with a span of 7″-8″
The 615mm scale length is best for players with a span of 7″ or less to about 6″
Of course, these are generalizations, but I do find that most players fit these standards.
Last note on the Ported versions. I am only ordering Players Series guitars from Kenny in the ported version, going forward. They are simply superior to the un-ported version, in terms of tone, volume and player feedback, which are the 3 benefits. I can order un-ported versions for you, but I will be carrying less and less stock of these until they are gone from the gallery. Thanks kindly. Rich

Listening with high quality headphones or audio equipment is highly recommended including EQ manipulation, if possible. We record everything flat with just a touch of Reverb to relieve dryness. My goal is to record the guitar as realistically as is possible. I speak in the recordings, my thoughts about the guitar (and possibly other things?). My speaking also serves to give you my first impressions and to also give you a balance of the engineering (or lack thereof) versus the sound of the guitar. I simply do not have time to engineer much of anything. Thanks. Rich
Please NOTE that photos of all “production guitars” are stock photos, taken randomly for our numerous selection of guitars, whether they be from Kenny Hill – Esteve – Adalid or others. It is virtually impossible and arduous to photograph each of our available production guitars. I am, however, happy to take a few photos for you of any particular guitar with which your are interested.
Handcrafted instruments are photographed and listed individually, usually identified by a serial number, date and or some other combination.
MP3 Audio – 210223-player 615mm cedar vs spruce -A recent recording comparing the 615mm Cedar (first part of recording) and 615mm Spruce (second part), while playing a new piece, “Dance Lady Diva” or at least some of it (it’s a bit longer, I created a shorter demo version of it). I figure this will help you to hear the difference, if any, between the 2 woods and their build.

MP3 Audio – 180213-hill-player-615-cedar-ports – I had a lot of fun with this recording, playing one of my latest guitar demonstration pieces, “Gamma di Preludio”. This little baby did some good work, making me smile. Phenomenal guitar for its price point.
MP3 Audio – a file comparison of the 615 Cedar without Ports and then the 615 Cedar w/Ports, compared side by side. I play Sor’s Opus 35 No. 17 in this comparison.

Please note that as a Global Statement for my site, for Tuning machines, Accessories, and most guitars, that Shipping is NOT Free any longer. Costs have gone up dramatically. Regardless of what or where you might read on the site, shipping is not free any longer. Choose the least expensive method, if available, or Expedited if you want them quicker. My apologies. Rich
Please DO NOT Choose USPS Media Mail to ship a guitar or a Hard Shell Case – choose FedEx Home or Ground Delivery or any Expedited Method. The more expensive a guitar, the more likely you should choose a 1 or 2 day method. It’s pure common sense, especially when it is too hot or too cold outside.
I have added numerous options for you to choose the cost and method, including USPS Priority and Express, as well as FedEx options (we can substitute UPS for FedEx, simply indicate your preference in the Notes window at Check Out).
