Kenny Hill Player Series Fingerstyle 640mm 48mm Cedar Pickup
Please note this listing is only for the Fingerstyle Cedar model in 640mm with a 48mm nut width and a Barbera Soloist Pickup installed by Kenny Hill. This is a Saddle Pickup, where the saddle is the transducer. An excellent development by the Barbera people.
The Kenny Hill Player Series classical guitars are new models that have been in development for some time. At a more accessible price, these guitar feature selected Indian Rosewood, Cedar, Spruce : all solid woods and high quality woods used for the Top and the Back/Sides, along with a thinly applied lacquer finish for excellent resonance and response.
The Fingerstyle Model features a 48mm nut width -40mm at the 1st fret – 50mm at the 12th fret and 60mm string spacing at the saddle/bridge.
Please note that the scale length is 640mm with a radiused neck for ease of play and comfort.
The Fingerstyle model is also available (by special order or sometimes I have them in stock) that features a 51-52mm nut width, just like the other other Player Series I have available.
The Player series classical guitar offers the player a wide variety of choices: each model is available with a spruce or cedar soundboard. Incredibly, the Spruce tops have silk rays or medullar rays throughout, highly prized and they really do sound terrific. The Cedar tops have beautiful straight grain, with a lush ruddy look to them, sounding warm and wet. The Indian Rosewood backs and sides are also superior. You might expect to see these types of woods selected for guitars well over $3000 or more in price.
Once you’ve tried these fingerstyle classical guitars, I am confident you will agree that once again, Kenny Hill has delivered a remarkable line of finely-crafted instruments; they look great, are a joy to play and sound terrific.

Kenny Hill Player Series Fingerstyle 640mm 48mm Cedar Pickup
Players with shorter hands and/or fingers should seriously consider the 640mm or the 628mm scale.
My fitting sessions with numerous players over the years has proven that this slightly smaller scale is simply more comfortable for the majority of players, while sacrificing nothing in terms of tone and volume. The difference is the length of the neck, the width of the nut at 48-51mm and the proportional fretting of the instrument.
The 650mm is suitable for those players whose spread between thumb and pinky is 9″ or greater
The 640mm is suitable for those players whose spread between thumb and pinky is 8″-9″
The 628mm is suitable for those players whose spread between pinky and thumb is 7″-8″
The 615mm is suitable for those players whose spread between pinky and thumb is 6″-7″
Listening with high quality headphones or audio equipment is highly recommended including EQ manipulation, if possible. We record everything flat with just a touch of Reverb to relieve dryness. My goal is to record the guitar as realistically as is possible. I speak in the recordings, my thoughts about the guitar (and possibly other things?). My speaking also serves to give you my first impressions and to also give you a balance of the engineering (or lack thereof) versus the sound of the guitar. I simply do not have time to engineer much of anything. Thanks. Rich
Please NOTE that photos of all “production guitars” are stock photos, taken randomly for our numerous selection of guitars, whether they be from Kenny Hill – Esteve – Adalid or others. It is virtually impossible and arduous to photograph each of our available production guitars. I am, however, happy to take a few photos for you of any particular guitar with which your are interested.
Handcrafted instruments are photographed and listed individually, usually identified by a serial number, date and or some other combination.
MP3 Audio – 190208- Kenny Hill Player Series Fingerstyle 640mm 48mm Cedar – heck, even more fun than the 650 version. Bit of growl in the voice, lots of power, easy to play, what more could you want under $2K I thoroughly enjoyed this recording session. I think you will too. Rich
