Michael Gee Classical Guitar #616 – 2014 Cedar DT EIRW

Michael Gee is clearly a superb classical guitar builder with over 30 years experience, with players all over the world capturing audiences with his creations.   This one is also very pretty, from the headstock to the woods used.  I just received this one, where I will write more when I sit down to record her, giving my straightforward thoughts.  So far so good, as she is clear voiced and resonant with easy play.

Additional information about the luthier:

In 1977 after years of study Michael Gee opened his own workshop, making classical guitars. Since those early days Michael has made over 650 guitars and sent his instruments to over 20 countries around the world.

Each instrument is unique and details such as purfling are entirely hand made. Michael uses the natural colours of woods including rosewood, paduk, ebony, maple and walnut to complement the woods used in his guitars.

Machine work is kept to a minimum as Michael prefers using hand tools – feeling much more in contact and control with the materials he is using.

Many concert performers and teachers have commissioned an instrument from Michael. David Russell, Robert Brightmore, Jose Luis Gonzales, Stephan Rak, Gordon Crosskey, Stanley Yates, Earl Klugh, Hubert Kaple are amongst the many internationally renowned musicians who own and have played Michael’s guitars.

Using traditional materials of CSA and Indian rosewoods, Cedars and various Spruce woods, Michael builds concert guitars to his own design which he has carefully developed over the past 30 years with the help of many players. His guitars have been described as having exceptionally smooth and warm tone with great projection and excellent separation.

Listening with high quality headphones or audio equipment is highly recommended

MP3 Audio – 160928-michael-gee-616 – the guitar is so very responsive, with unusual clarity.  A beautiful and deep response in the bass coupled with singing trebles and piercing mids.  Easily played, she’s a joy.  This is a superb concert quality classical guitar in every regard.  I play a few selections from my personal works.  The book is available in our Sheet Music Category as well as the link below.  Thanks. Rich
